Tight Ends

Our Tight Ends again showed us we need to improve more are we trying out any or can we bring some in who can block and catch the ball like Jake Ballard and bring back Visanthe Shanicoe because we all know they are better than Dallas Clark and since Dickson was a 3rd round pick can we try and trade him for a fifth or lower pick

I don't know Dickson is worth of 7th round pick right now; nobody wants him.  Proof? ask Doss...

We need to bump up our depth chart and let Furs or Bajema, or Juice taking full snaps...

To be fair, seeing how Ed Dickson is an alum of Oregon, I'm pretty sure Chip Kelly can convince Philly's front office to give at least a 7th-round pick (or, a 6th-round pick, at best) to Baltimore for him.

Clark is okay against zone. He's just too slow to consistently get open against man. So he is essentially Boldin without the physicality. That last play against the Bills is the perfect example. Boldin wouldn't have gotten sepeartion either but he would have outfought the defender for the ball.

We desperately need more speed from the TE position. If there was an obvious roster spot available I'm sure Furst would have been called up already but there isn't and now the two guys who were suspended will be coming back soon making a callup even less likely barring injury to one of the other TE's.

Too bad we don't have anyone with tight end experience already on the roster.

When Boldin faced Linebackers he could get seperation.  It's just physical press corners he doesn't really do well.

The TEs are such disasters in the passing game.  They should just stick to blocking.  This would help the embattled O-line to give Flacco protection in the pocket and establish a semblance of a running game.

Nobody in FA would make an impact. We just gotta grind it out with the current group, and hope Pitta comes back and plays like he did.

Can we sign Jake Ballard Now and Visanthe Shanicoe back

Why do you want the Ravens to sign either Ballard or Shanicoe? Visanthe Shiancoe was the first tight end to be signed, in lieu of Dennis Pitta's injury, and, obviously, he didn't pan out. I mean, what does it say about Shiancoe (and what he has left) when the Ravens gave-up on him, after just 2 preseasons games, to sign Dallas Clark?

As for Jack Ballard: Well, Baltimore gave him a "tryout" a few weeks back, immediately following the Broncos game. And, while the team was hoping he could provide some blocking help; apparently, Ballard still hasn't recovered from his injury in Super Bowl XLVI. After all, if the Ravens could have used his help as an extra blocker (which this team needs, at the moment), what does it say about how banged-up he is, since Baltimore didn't sign him to a contract?

The only, only help the Ravens are going to get at the tight end position, honestly,is if they bring-up Matt Furstenburg from the practice squad. Right now, the Ravens have nothing to lose. Ed Dickson only has 3 catches; but, more importantly, he has 6 "recorded" drop passes. Joe Flacco can't trust him and most of us feel he is wasting a spot being out there on the field. Dallas Clark, on the other hand, is way too slow, can't get separation (when a defender plays man), won't fight for the football in traffic and also has questionable hands. I trust Billy Bajema more than those two, in the end; at least he can do something, which is blocking. So, this is the perfect opportunity to see if Furstenburg is worth keeping, as well as seeing if he can play in the NFL.

sometimes you need to game plan around your weaknesses. use the te as an extra blocker and work you other receivers. it likw bellicheck said about wilfolk, there's not guys like him out on the street. same goes for pitta.

We need a couple of those big, tall, fast guys with glue hands to run the seam routes.

Just daydreaming...........

Clarke is great at getting open the majority of the time, he does catch most balls, but he can do little or nothing after the catch. I even doubt if he could run a 10 yard route. Has there been any update on pitta
