Torrey Smith's 2013 season statistics

78 posts in this topic

Smith is a GREAT WR. Definate PRO BOWL material.

He has shown improvement nearly every game this season so far.  I can forsee alot more TD's for him in the coming weeks. Im expecting at least 3 against miami Providing J.F doesnt give the bloody ball away again.

Of course we miss Flacco's bud, Pitta, but Torrey is the only one catching the ball at this point.

He is really playing - more than I can say for the other guys, they cannot hold on to the ball.

When Jacoby and Pitta are fit, we will be ready.

Dickson needs to go.

Torry IS the bomb..

Go Ravens!!!!

The scary thing about Torrey is he is getting better and better.

I've always thought highly of Torrey Smith, his work ethic and who he is as a person is part and parcel to his success on the field.

Last year I kept saying that I think Torrey is the type of person that EVERYONE  likes, but unfortunately New England fans proved me wrong on that account.

Anyways, its past due that Baltimore had a receiver in the pro-bowl.  Its never too late to start campaigning a player to the pro-bowl either, but we need to think of a catchy phrase like Leach to the beach!

Torrey to Hawaii maybe?

How many of those are bombs that fall incomplete? My point was we need more completed passes. I'm talking bubble screens, short comeback routes, and quick slants. An easy completion to build confidence and get the ball in the hands of our best playmaker. We saw what Torrey did in the preseason on a slant route against the Falcons. He took it to the house on a relatively simple pass. If that 70 yarder to Torrey doesn't connect than the stats and the game look a whole lot different. And lets face it, we don't connect on very many bombs. I seem to recall reading that our completion percentage on deep passes was below average last year. We just threw deep so often it sort of overshadowed it.

I agree 100%, he can be fairly elusive when the balls in his hands we really do need to move him about a bit more.

Reminds me of Reggie Wayne for some reason now.

Got a full route tree. Not the biggest guy but always gives his best effort. He getting open because of his routes now as opposed to his speed on some plays.

The scary part is, Torrey is still getting better. He is much improved as a route runner, but there is still room for improvement. The best part is Torrey would be the first to admit it and he has the drive and work ethic to keep pushing to be the best.

He looks the part of a number one with that hair cut. Lol. He's really impressed me in his three years here. With his progression and everything. He's one of my favorite Ravens. On and off the field.

I think Torrey is the #1 receiver, and would be the #1 receiver on the vast majority of NFL teams save a few. What would be really nice for us, is that there are rumors that the Giants may give up on this season if they lose another game and start accumulating picks and building for 2014.

If that is the case, they are sure to shop Hakeem Nicks because I don't believe they want to pay him Victor Cruz money. I don't know if we can fit him under our cap, but if we could manage that and trade for him by giving up a 3rd round pick, I think it will make our receiving corps instantly world class!

I know this may not be a popular line of thought, but hey the Ravens mantra is if there is a player out there that makes them better, they will make a move!

I personally attribute his success this year to the lack of wind resistance his locks caused when running routes. Now that those locks are relegated to history, he is more aerodynamic in his route running and speed!

Wouldn't it be cool if this were really borne out to be true???

If Brown could stay healthy he would get that help. I never expected Brown to score three TDs in his first season. He is a great Redzone Threat. They will both be much better when Pitta is coming back.

Thompson could be that second burner that some requested already. Just needs to stay healthy as well...

Right now the only guy who is really hurting us is dickson and clark!

Thompson has been pretty healthy.  He just got his bell rung.  It happens.  10 years ago he would have never missed practice.

Thompson let one into his body sunday, but he doesn't have a drop all year.  Which is good.

It's a little true. Dreads are heavy. Probably makes him get to the ball an inch faster, or get an inch further away from another player.

T Smith runs the sloppy post better than any one I have ever seen. He is being used well, and may not catch 150 balls this season.

He is a legit #1. We have finally drafted a WR !!!!!!! :football:  :football:  :football:

Nicks would cost too much

Torrey is our number 1 wide receiver going forward. Once we get the running game going and have a decent O-line that gives Joe time he will only get better. So far this year he hasnt had a threat opposite him but has still dominated.

He is going to get paid this year!! How much is the question?

Nicks would be a dream come true...wanted us to take him instead of you-know-who...
Would be a perfect complement to Torrey as well.

Well a tangible benefit is that people can no longer drag him down by the hair.

Chris Wesseling of NFL.com has a glowing tribute to Torrey Smith's development as a #1 Receiver. He goes on to say he may be amongst the best receivers in the AFC right now.... here is the link to the article.

Here is the compilation of catches made by Torrey in the same article.

The article lacked a lot of content, but it's nice to see him getting some attention.  The writer did place him in some great company.

It's hard not to be impressed with Torrey's development this season though.

When he first cut them off he actually said that he could bend his head back much easier without the clump of dreads hanging out of the back of his helmet.

He also now doesn't have to worry being tackled by his hair.

I knew the TDs would come this year for Torrey. He's really improved.

54 catches, 952yds, 4TDs. He's getting closer to the 1000yd season he has been aiming for! Only 'curious' stat is that he has been targeted 105 times. He's completing just over 50% of his targets for one reason or another.

He is having a great year but I still think he can improve. With a genuine threat across for him (possibly Jones or a new WR), Pitta back and a run game he will see softer coverage and stats should improve. He needs to get a deal this summer though!
