Looks like the O's aren't going to get Burnett after all of this (per @masnroch and others)... apparently we're still "in" on Arroyo, Jiminez, and Yoon. I'll believe it when I see it.

K-Rod back to the Brewers (ESPN). No big loss,just another move that didn't pan out. What did we give for him? Did we keep the receipt, how about a rebate? I'd laugh but this isn't funny anymore. Well guess what. Arroyo to the D-Backs (SB Nation). It's official, the O's are a total joke. There seems to be no sense in trying to sign another FA we're gonna have to do it with what we got. I hope the $17M or so I keep reading about on various sources the O's were "ready" to spend will now go to the core of the O's current lineup. Watched Tanaka presser. He spent more money on the plane to bring him over here (USA) than Pete spent on the hacks we have to call Orioles! When does this madness end? Baseball, as a whole is becoming, or is already a joke. A hard salary cap, or as the NFL calls it a level playing field may serve the game better than a "luxury tax". Remember when Kanas City used to be a contender? Just sayin' the system is broke, and yeah, it needs fixing. That said, Pete still wouldn't spend a buck, but at least he would have one less reason not to, or for me to "rag" on his butt! Pete, give it up, enough already!!

Great...Another Yankee retirement tour...Start shedding the tears.

The guy is a decent player, and for all the years he gave to the Yankees, I understand why they love him in New York. Outside of New York, I don't think people are making a huge deal of this. The guy is getting up in years, so his retirement was soon to be expected. Again, Jeter is a good player, especially in the post season - however he is not a dominant player. I am not going out of my way to buy tickets to see him one last time on the field.

Read a thread on the OH I thought made a good point.

With Jeter retiring, I think Hardy's price goes up. He'll be a FA next year and I'm sure the yanks will throw a lot more money at him than we would.

^^^ potential for a solid rotation. We also have a bunch of young guys waiting in the wings, and waiting for one of them to screw up.

Gausman, Matusz, Britton, Rodriguez, Bundy?, Yoon ...

In the meantime some of them will contribute to a good looking bullpen. This move got me excited. I don't think he's worth that much but I'm just happy we finally spent some money. Peter must've been in bed so hopefully he doesn't find out about it soon.

I think this will be our best rotation in the last two years.....

If Flaherty has a great year like I predict him to, I think we're a wild card team. He's my bet for most improved oriole. Might as well sign Morales now and have a DH.

The news broke around 7 PM so it's very possible Peter was asleep and doesn't know yet. Once he looks at his finances he'll know, and Dan will most likely get canned.

Jimenez! Yes, finally! Now that is what I am talking about. If we would not have kicked Balfour to the curb, I would be super psyched! Maybe we can still pick up a decent closer and I will then give the O's full credit for legitimately trying to compete in the division. I am getting happier, go O's!
