I think it had to be done.  Still PS eligible if they'd rather have him than Brown or Trawick.  No one will claim him.

Saw on Twitter than his main issue is showing no effort to grasp the playbook.  He was regarded as boom or bust, and apparently the team already feels he's at bust level.

Yeah that's what whoever on Twitter was getting at.  Physically, he can become a superstar.  Mentally, he just didn't care.  Made no effort to make a name for himself and getting suspended certainly didn't help.  When you get suspended, play poorly, and show a general lack of effort, you're going to get cut.

Oh, man! Talk about the irony: For someone that trained/worked-out with Ed Reed, I find it funny that Christian Thompson was the complete opposite of Reed, when it came to football smarts, at least.

 

Further proof that you can be the most athletically gifted human being out there; but, no one can teach to become intelligent.

Several times in the preseason he just launched shoulders at guys with zero arms forward to tackle and fell on his face.  Some little Woodhead looking guy on the Rams humiliated him.

 

A guy who gets suspended and is known for big hitting but can't make basic tackles has no place in the league.  Kind of annoyed, 4th rounders are hardly guarantees but it's usually not this abysmal.
