I'm not convinced that Freeman is a step up on what they already have.

No. He's much better than Ponder.


If he actually gets good coaching he could be a very solid QB

If he actually gets good coaching he could be a very solid QB

 

It's unlikely he'll be able to learn the playbook quickly enough and well enough to make an impact this season, when taking into account his flaws as a player.  Freeman is a guy who had one good season when he had a favorable SOS and has sucked the rest of the time.  Ponder is no prize, but Freeman is not the savior.

To put it bluntly, Freeman is considered a bit of a "stupid" QB, right?
