The D hasn't given up a TD in two weeks but you think the players need to be changed up? It's working.

Agred 100%. T-Sizzle, Doom & Upshaw have been outstanding. No reason to change anything there. Depth chart doesn't tell the whole story, and our D-Coordinator rotates the players on the D-line to keep them fresh.

This last game McPhee was getting a lot of penetration he came close to a few sacks. Before this Texans game I felt like McPhee should be back in the trenches more because he wasn't popping off the screen to me like before.

But the original poster makes an interesting point that it would give Simon a chance to play. For me Simon had become a forgotten man...

I would like to see what Simon can do in real games myself.. But hey I'm just a fan, and I know the coach has him on the end of the bench for a reason.

Plus how our D has been lights out since the Denver debacle, I don't see them changing anything:)

I haven't heard anyone advocate a switch to the 43 since last year.  Secondly we don't have the Will or Sam backers to play the scheme.  Thirdly, just switching to a 43 does not even remotely guarantee more turnovers, thats just a fallacy of all time.

We continue to use the multiple front and alignment defense, as we've been doing since 2002 because its successful.  You don't change schemes in week 3 unless you want a total disaster on your hands.

Yeah I don't get how some Ravens fans don't understand we are a Hybrid defense that uses both. This should be something we are proud of. Why just use one when your defense can play 2. I miss the days when we played some 46 but its a passing league now.

Give Pees some time for the defense to come together folks. He has proven we can be a very good defense. Give them time to develop chemistry and we will have a top 5 defense.

Average is not very good...

You're confusing the scale:

Bad - Average - Good.

"not very good" is between bad and average. Average is it's own thing for a reason.

He's not on the bench, he's playing special teams, the normal role of a rookie. It's extremely rare for a rookie to contribute significantly in their initial year, and rarer still if they weren't drafted in the first 3 rounds. Be patient -- the guys like Simon were meant to be special teamers this year, barring injury. At some point he will crack the line-up but not while we are playing good enough defense to keep teams like Texans out of the end zone.

It's just very strange to me that anyone would look at what the Ravens defense accomplished over the last two games and think, Gee they should really be playing their rookies more.

Does he's stand out on the field over other guys? No , at this point he does not.

It's only two games, but allowing 7.5 points and about 260 yards a game, I'm not inclined to argue with the chemistry.

I also remember McPhee batting down about 5 balls during last year's AFC Championship and he gets time to acclimate upon that alone.

Why do so many folks want to bash veterans? I don't get it.

Pernell is a beast, no question. This guy was ballin in the pash rush department and had a fine game today. We are lucky to have him, considering Ngata's pash rush is very disappointing.

Because of our OLB depth, we have been using guys like upshaw and mcphee and letting them exert their athleticism on the interior. It is just beautiful. I love our depth.

I've been impressed with McPhee. As long as we use him as a pass rush specialist and pretty much never ask him to drop back in coverage, I'm alright with the position change.

I think Ngata is more of a true NT right now. eating up blockers and demand double teams all the time to free up the edges. He isn´t on the field to rush the passer as of right now...we have suggs, doom, upshaw, jones and mcphee to go hunting every snap...

Give Simon some time, he'll break into the rotation.  I thought it would be close to week six.

No need to rush him. Even Upshaw is generating pressure now

I agree but I'm still on edge waiting for him to play.  I loved the guy coming out of the draft.  I think he will be better than JJ.

Better than JJ Watt?

enough with the simon/jj comparisons, theyre not even close to the same type of player. simon is a pass rush specialist, jarrett was an excellent run defender and excellent in zone coverage, please stop those constant comparisons, if anything, compare him to kruger.

that said, no reason to bust simon into the lineup and mess up the momentum we have building up on defense, and no need to rush a rookie who probably doesnt have a full grasp on the defensive playbook yet. our defense is balling right now, aside from denver, and playing soft in buffalo, our defense has played lights out, doom is getting pressure, suggs is a qb's worst nightmare right now, upshaw is showing huge upside as being more than just a run stuffer, mcphee is doing pretty good, there just seems to be no reAson to shove simon into the lineup and risk rookie mistakes
