Torrey Smith - best year for a receiver in Ravens history

12 posts in this topic

Now to be fair, Torrey has no TDs in 3 games.  But in those three games we've played Denver, Cleveland, and Houston, and Torrey I believe has been covered by Bailey, Haden, and JJ, respectively.  But against those 3 opponents he's racked up 16 receptions for 269 yards, which averages out to a 16 game total of 85 receptions for 1434 yards.  I don't believe there's even ever been an 1100 yard receiving season for the franchise. I feel that by the end of this year Torrey will set the new standard for Ravens receiving numbers.

I believe Michael Jackson had one really good year in the first couple years of the team. He had like 1200 yards. As far as the Torrey goes, I think he'll easily have his best season in terms of yards and receptions. Hopefully the TDs begin to rain.

He's gotten a lot better at his short-intermediate routes. And he's actually started catching the ball with his hands, and not his body!!! If not this year, he will definitely hit 1100 yards by next year.

He's been catching the ball with his hands since last season.

He's always been pretty much a hand catacher since he came in.  He's cradled some but since that rookie game in St.Louis he's been a hand catcher more or less.

Yeah you're right I missed that one, it was 1996, our first year of existence.  1200 yards and 14 TDs, while being thrown to by Testaverde.

I expect Torrey to rack up the TDs soon.  There will be games where he doesn't find the endzone, and there will be games where he scores twice.  But yeah, he's well on his way to a 1000 yard season.

Torrey wasn't covered much at all by Jonathan Joseph yesterday, and not at all by Champ in week one, seeing as Champ didnt play

In the Marlon Brown thread, people are trying to come up with a nickname for Brown. But what about Torrey? How about Tornado Torrey?

Tornados are quick, they can also change direction quickly and cause a lot of damage, much like Torrey can...
