Sack Total

How many sacks do we have on the season and who leads our team?

I think it's
Sizzle: 2
Doom: 2
Dayrl Freaking Smith: 1.5
Canty: 1

Anything I'm missing?

Ngata got one today. I thought Suggs had three, one in every game.

Was on a road trip from LA to SF.
Couldn't watch the game

Thanks

So far
Suggs:3
Doom:2
Ngata:1
Jones:2
Canty:1
Spears:1
Dayrl Smith:1.5
10.5 sacks through 3 weeks. Not bad at all

Maybe I'm wrong, but shouldn't the half sacks even out? How can a team have 10.5 sacks?

Arthur Brown was credited with .5 sack as well.

I think by mid season we will catch up to those ahead of us in the sack total, especially if we have teams having to play from behind like Texans were by second half.

It would be more impressive if five teams (including Cleveland, Jets and Tampa) didn't have more. KC leads with like 15.

Well to be fair to KC, Justin Houston is an absolute animal and has half of those sacks himself.  He's been incredible so far this year.  He got 4.5 against the Eagles on Thursday.

Little off topic, but the three top tackles in the draft are playing RT and they're all subpar.

Upshaw is going to get his share on 2nd down I feel, would not be surprised if he ends up with 6-8 sacks

nah. upshaw is jarrett johnson in style. id say he at best gts 4 sacks.

We play in a run oriented division. We will not lead in sacks. Also... gap integrity is often times more important than sacks. This is why Ngata is valued so much.  This is also why high sack totals for this team is impressive.

5 sacks against Cleveland, and the way Pittsburgh is playing (Ben has gone down 10 times in the first three games), I'm not sure I'd buy that argument. I don't think we'll lead the league in sacks, but this team with a healthy Suggs, and the addition of Dumervil and Canty, I think we'll get a lot of sacks this year, and expect to be top 10, if not top 5 in total sacks. We've already played two of the top four teams in the AFC, and came away with 6 combined sacks. We'll really see how things can look against some of the lesser opponents we play this year, especially going up against a rookie QB this week in Buffalo.

Thanks. My point exactly.

That underlined sentence sounds a lot like what I said.

Although those three teams aren't good as a whole.. Their defenses are still solid, especially Cleveland and NYJ both finished in the top 10 in total defense last year.
Plus we played Peyton manning in our defenses first full game together. Manning might be one of the hardest QB's to touch let alone sack!

Cleveland spent a ridiculous amount of money, and a high draft pick, on their defense, specifically up front, so their success is to be expected.  The Jets are similar, but they've also played against the Bucs and Bills (8 sacks last week).  The Bucs also racked up sacks against a rookie QB (5 against the Jets).  Let's see what we're able to accomplish this week against Buffalo.
