Breaking News: Ed Reed will now start

32 posts in this topic

How great would it be if the former Texan lights up the former Raven.. Ya.. it def. can happen.

Get'em LEEEAACCCHHH!!!

This is EXACTLY what I said to my wife last night. "Watch Leach just light him up and run him over like a steamroller"

Lets go.

Question now is how productive will he be?

As everyone has mentioned, he's still an amazing ball hawk, but doubtful at this stage in his career and coming off an injury that he would consider squaring up to make a tackle on a larger Leach, Brown or even Dickson, and he doesn't have the speed to keep up with Smith.  He likely will only see the field in obvious throwing downs, and will play the ball, not the players. As long as Joe doesn't make foolish throws I predict Reed won't be a factor in this game.

That is a really good point. Lots of play action and half back draws? We need Dickson to catch a ball before worrying about if anyone can bring him down.

I suppose this is one way to ensure Reed plays his last game in Baltimore...

Well to the extent Dickson's problems might stem from focusing on getting hit after the catch he might not have that worry with Reed on the field.

One thing about Ed Reed is he might be banged up recently but let's remember that he's usually very good early in the Year. That's when he played his best. I think he'll be healthy coming into this game.

Anyone else remember him against the Bengals? The Steelers?

He's a G.O.A.T. ball hawk, but coming off hip surgery and at 35 years old you really think he's going to lay himself out trying to tackle a larger player? He will play the ball and if he misses it, the corner is going to be on his own in tackling the receiver.

Texans fans will be PO'd if Reed is the last line of defense and totally misses on purpose.

I guess we'll soon see. I think he's still a danger for us. He's Ed Reed. He may have missed his share of tackles recently but he's still Ed Reed and while he's coming off of surgery he's been usually productive his first game

There's a difference between missing on purpose and not taking the full brunt of a hit. Expect some one arm, from the side attempts if there's a big size differential. Or he will lunge at the shoe tops, and maybe get leapt over again. I think the sports commentator who suggested that for Reed tackling (or not) is "now a business decision" got it right.

Reed was invisible. I think he had half a tackle. At the end of the game he was standing on the sideline looking around regretfully. You made the wrong decision bro. Enjoy that 8mil.

Yeah he tackled Clark, but Clark dragged him forward.

Ed Reed, officially cooked. The guy has little left. Texans got "duped" like Craft.

He just looks like a homeless guy who got an opportunity of a life time to play in the NFL, except he was able to do for a very long time.

It was pretty cool seeing Reed out there on the field again. The announcers made way to big a deal of Pierces small hurdle over him lol. I do think he should have retired but if he has the passion to play still then he should be on the field. I wish him the best and hopefully he can be healthy by the end of the year and retire on his terms.
