Browns looking to trade WR's (and more?)

82 posts in this topic

Again, the Browns aren't going to trade within the division. And no, we can't afford anyone who earns more than about 1.5 million this year. And even that amount isn't realistic because that would leave us with no ability to replace anyone who gets injured.

Also I'm surprised none of the trolls on here suggested we try to buy Rainey back.

I've already stated it's unlikely the Browns trade within the division. Read my earliest post. My question was clearly rhetorical.

Can we even afford his salary? No offense to you. What I want to say is we make fun of people a lot for making outlandish trade ideas. People often say we can't afford trading Ray Rice because of the accelerated salary cap. That's a fact. The same applies to Joe Thomas. We definitely can't afford him at his current salary. We would need to restructure significantly to fit him under. I recognize it's probably in jest but let's all be careful of being hypocrites here.

To be fair, I didn't check his salary at all, since it's not going to happen anyway lol.  But yeah, we can't afford him.  As SAM said, this was pretty much just because the Browns may in fact be that stupid.

It was more of an attempt at saying THE BROWNS ARE STUPID rather than an actual idea.

No offense to you. I just dislike the idea of telling one person we can't do something for one reason and not telling someone else the same in a similar instance and this is that. Hopefully nobody else thinks we'll be able to trade for Joe Thomas.

Haha. Fair enough.
But I don't think the Browns are dumb enough to trade Joe in the first place. Stupid they are(very), but trading a franchise LT when ur drafting a QB next year is suicide

Little is terrible and Gordon is one J away from year long suspension. 6th for Gordon but I wouldn't give anything more.

Yeah, now Jordan Cameron is another story. We need a TE and he's been doing decent. Imagine him with Joe, instead of Weeden.

I read Joe Thomas isn't on the trade block.

I saw on Twitter that only Alex Mack and Thomas are players the Browns really like on the offensive side.

*Face Palm*

Well I wonder if they don't like Joe Haden.

Their CEO the other day more or less said anyone could be traded for the right offer.

I actually think for the first time since this franchise was dug up from the grave the browns are making wise decisions. Holmgren was a huge joke as a gm. Possibly up there w Matt Millen. as worst in nfl history. An overrated running back, one wr with huge drop issues and another off the field problem are not key pieces to building a franchise. Also not players who would improve the ravens. I think the browns focused on solidifying their d this offseason and did a good job. They want to jettison the dead offensive weight and draft a franchise qb and a new set of skill players. If they do it right their defense and online are good enough to actually turn this dumpster fire around.

Brian Hoyer for President! :p

With Cameron as their go-to guy, I wouldn't be surprised if CLE did some more bloodletting.

Can we get Joe Thomas? Since they are in super purge mode?

Joe Thomas and Yanda on the same o-line :th_grapes: .Joe could just sit back and chill in the pocket.

Browns received offers for Thomas but turned them down. One team named was the Denver Broncos who were calling for Joe Thomas.

Denver lost Clady so I know they're hustlin to get someone to cover Manning's blind side.

I'd give up a second rounder right now for Gordon, easy. He's had off the field issues, but he's a better all around WR than anyone on our team.

At 2-1, I'm about finished with trying to fit new guys into the system.  The guys we have are just now gaining some comfort.  A 2nd rounder is way too high, in my opinion.

Josh Gordon is a prototypical #1 WR, and his football skills are far above where you'd expect a sophomore player's to be. Josh Gordon is the reason that people thought Weeden was a starting level QB last year. If I knew him well enough to be sure that he's going to stay clean from now on, I'd be willing to throw in a 5th or 6th, too.

I'm not doubting his ability.  He may be worth it.  I'm just saying I wouldn't do it.  During training camp, maybe, or even preseason.  I've seen improvement each game so far from us, and I don't want anything to stunt that.  Maybe trade for him just before our bye week, which coincides with the deadline.  I still wouldn't throw a 2nd, though.  I think there are plenty of WRs in the draft this year that we could grab if we kept our picks.
