Who spot should he take on the depth chart, when he do comeback? Do he play behind Torrey, Brown and Stokley as the 4th guy? Do he move in front of Stokley and play the 3rd receiver spot? Or do we play the TE less and play more 4 wides? I think the team should ease him back by playing him as the 4th guy and if he can make plays in this role, he should then take the 3rd spot.
Regardless, I say we should play more 4 wides and play our TE's as less as possible. I'm stopping short of calling our TE's worthless, for the simple fact that they can at least get open most of the time. But if they can't hold on to the ball, then what's the point?
Having Thompson on the field, will help us stretch the D more. We'll have a guy that can take the top off the D not just on the outside with Torrey, but in the middle with Thompson as well.
Either way, when Thompson come back, our offense should improve and I hope he sees some playing time this week against the Texans.
