When does Flacco start playing like a top paid QB?

291 posts in this topic

He started playing like one on our Super Bowl run.

Good answer. Some of our Raven fans should give up on fantasy football.

As the OP has not once piped up to defend his position, I'd say this one can say goodnight now.

He's probably too busy perusing NFC practice squads deciding who he wants us to trade Flacco for.

Joe isn't a fantasy football quarterback, but he plays like an elite one. He's played great the last two weeks. It's not his fault the rest of the offense is letting him down.

I've seen little to nothing here that is worth rebuttle.  I've seen many more poor throws and poor decisions (not seeing open recievers, throwing the ball too late and so on...) by Flacco than dropped balls....Many more.

LOL

Well it's just you man. Just you.

We are tied for 4th in dropped passes. You see what you want to see and not what is actually happening.

Those numbers wouldn't look bad if his receivers and tight ends caught the ball. Stats don't tell the whole story. Flacco has played very well so far this year.

one of the top paid quarterbacks in the game???

I've been tolerant of his weak numbers thus far but it's about to change soon.

If he's able to bring along some young recievers like Brown or others it will go a long way , the way he is paid (AAV)  he needs to do that.

His payday while not handicapping the ravens this season will in future years if lackluster numbers are the order of the day.

Hopefully this is the week Flacco reminds the fanbase why he's paid like one of the great quarterbacks..

Like Brady's sick numbers you mean?  Every QB can only do so much with the guys he plays with.

You may want to find a good optometrist -- you are really the only one seeing this.

Besides staring down his receivers (like really badly), he has played very, very well. I think we need to just run the ball alot more until we can trust these tight ends in the receiving game.

I really thought Juice would be more involved in the offense but SO FAR, It looks like a bad pick getting a back up full back in the 4th round...

I am excited to see Pierce get the start (Rice didn't practice all week, I doubt he plays). I think he will put on a show. Should be a good one.

He'll start playing like a top paid QB when his WRs catch the ball like they did in the playoffs. Notice how "horrible" Tom Brady looked when his WRs couldn't get open or catch passes?

I think a lot of the staring is because so many pass catchers are new.  to really look off defenders you have to have to be able to hit them blindfolded.  because you basically are hitting them blind.

How about to be more specific about in term of what poor throws and poor decisions are you iterating?

Before you even going there, if nobody can catch the balls, Joe will go or even force balls to those who can catch the balls; therefore, it might lead to turnovers.  I'm not giving specific plays cuz I want to hear your anti-Flacco comments....

and if you've seen nothing here to discuss, then you have nothing to back up to what you have accused.

Or after watching Tom Brady's game, you have nothing to debate?

When will his WR/TEs catch the ball? Those guys have left about 200+ yards and 4 TD's on the field and not on the scoreboard.  Look at what Brady is doing.... nothing more then Flacco. Very similar situation exceot NE has a better run game, oddly.

Well.......

1.) No Pitta
2.) No Boldin
3.) New Center(no more Pro Bowler C in Birk)
4.) Only WR from last season starting right now is Torrey Smith and 100% of his throws cant go to him
5.)As minute as some people would think, he just had a baby for gods sake
6.)And when he does get the ball out there, the TE's are not doing their job in catching it when they need to.

They are all valid reasons for a QB to start off in a slump but once chemistry starts to grow with him, Marlone, and maybe even Deonte once he gets back, you add that to an offense with Smith and Stokely and you have your self a dangerous offensive attack.

I'll take the quarterback with the rings over quarterbacks like Ryan and Romo who put up pretty numbers and choke in big games.

Yes I'm implying Flacco win multiple Super Bowls. Take it to the bank.

The question should´t be "When does Flacco start playing like a top paid QB?" but "when do the receiver start making plays when they are put in PERFECT position by Joe. Right now we are right where I´ve expected us to be after week 2. 1-1.

We are fine. Flacco is doing a great Job. Look at what Brady is doing without Hernandez and Welker. Nothing special. Flacco never had the support at Receiver than most of the other Top QBs and he still has a ring and one of the best Playoff records in history...

Yeah, that Super Bowl run was all Flacco.  We were lucky to get through it with those terrible receivers.  Thank goodness they got rid of Boldin.  And thank goodness Marlon Brown is here because Torrey Smith is just not that good.  And before them.... gosh, Derrick Mason was just horrible.  He couldn't catch anything.

That's funny because I'm pretty sure Dallas Clark has more drops than Dickson.  I just wonder why Flacco can never seem to hit Dickson in stride.  He seems to have more trouble throwing accurately to Dickson than any other player on the team.

You know... everything you said was exaggerated but pretty true.

It's a horrible argument to bring up Brady.

You're assuming all of us expected the Patriots to dominate this year like they have in the past.  That's not the case.  They have absolutely no threat of a running game, their defense can't get them the ball back by forcing 3 and outs so they don't get to build a rythm early like they did in years past.  And you say they lost Welker, but Welker has had quite a few drops... especially in big games.... the last few years.  So guess what... Brady and ALL OTHER QB's have receivers who drop the ball.  How many touchdowns has Calvin Johnson himself lost due to dropping the ball?  You keep pointing out any other possible outcome than blaming Flacco.... but at the end of the day, if you want to pay the QB like he's the most important person on the team, then he better play well more consistently than what Flacco does.

And hey, it's only 2 weeks in.  And while I did expect them to be 1-1 at this point.... and I did expect them to play Denver close...  I definitely didn't expect them to be pretty much shut out by the Browns on the home opener in Baltimore.  Especially after an extended week to rest and prepare...

Without a TE threat it's hard for anyone involved in the passing game to get going.  I think Joe has done remarkably well considering what he has had to work with.
