When does Flacco start playing like a top paid QB?

one of the top paid quarterbacks in the game???

I've been tolerant of his weak numbers thus far but it's about to change soon.

If he's able to bring along some young recievers like Brown or others it will go a long way , the way he is paid (AAV)  he needs to do that.

His payday while not handicapping the ravens this season will in future years if lackluster numbers are the order of the day.

Hopefully this is the week Flacco reminds the fanbase why he's paid like one of the great quarterbacks..

Those numbers wouldn't look bad if his receivers and tight ends caught the ball.  Stats don't tell the whole story.  Flacco has played very well so far this year.

Spoken like somebody who hasn't actually been watching any games.  Flacco has been making some phenominal throws.  Not his fault if receivers aren't getting separation and are dropping every other pass right off their fingertips.

There have been two easy TD passes dropped (one was a rookie mistake, so there's that) and one that was bobbled then caught out of bounds.

Although the numbers don't show it, Flacco was 7/8 on 3rd down during the second half last game which helped the Ravens win the TOP battle and put points on the board.

The question should´t be "When does Flacco start playing like a top paid QB?" but "when do the receiver start making plays when they are put in PERFECT position by Joe. Right now we are right where I´ve expected us to be after week 2. 1-1.

We are fine. Flacco is doing a great Job. Look at what Brady is doing without Hernandez and Welker. Nothing special. Flacco never had the support at Receiver than most of the other Top QBs and he still has a ring and one of the best Playoff records in history...

Agree with the prior posters. As long as Flacco is putting the ball consistently within arms reach of his receivers on most of his throws, which he has been, he is doing everything an elite QB can do. If his receivers don't haul in the catches they should be making I don't think Flacco really bears the blame. Its not just the Ravens -- did you miss the tantrums Brady had the other day watching Edelman and the other members of his lackluster receiving corps do the exact same thing? Not every receiver can be a Bolden or a Welker who makes their QB look good, and their absence doesn't make that same QB suddenly not good. Yes there's a saying that a great QB can make even bad receivers look good, but those receivers still kind of have to meet them half way and catch the balls that are on target.

He started playing like one on our Super Bowl run.

Yup.

And we'll see if his Michael Vick(comeback player of the year, but nonetheless a 1-yr fluke) or if he is jonny u.

I really hope we draft some quality WRs next year.

Depending on Pitta's status and contract negotiations I think TE is the much higher priority.

I also think/ expect that next year we are again going to have to part with some big name players for cap and age reasons (McKinnie, Leach, maybe even Ngatta) so I expect depth at those positions to be a much higher priority than WR. Whether we are in the market for any WRs will depend on Brown, Deonte and Doss' progression over the course of the year, and how much they like Mellette. If we see decent progression with any of these guys my bet is WR becomes a very low priority.

Gee if the receivers actually caught catch able balls, you would see very good numbers from him. Although Tom Brady does not have much better numbers than Joe and he is in a similar boat. Why don't you relax. Last weeks stat line would have been about 260 yards and 3 touchdowns if Brown and Smith caught balls that hit their hands. Denver's would have looked much better if Dickson and Clark did not drop so many passes. Every QB deals with drops, but the easy ones should not be on Joe.

When will Tom Brady start playing like a top paid QB?

I mean his numbers for the last 2 games are dismal.

Why isn't the great Tom Brady making his new receiving corps look good?

Chemistry takes time. Joe has been putting the ball right where it needs to be and the young receiving corps has been dropping them. Just like in New England.

You might want to rewatch the 2 games we played, because Joe has been playing very well lately. The Ravens are tied for 4th in drops with the Patriots and last time I checked Tom Brady doesn't look like ProBowler in his close victories against struggling teams either. Meanwhile, unlike Tom, Joe carries himself with some dignity and shows poise under pressure.

Att.    Cmp.     Yrds.     Cmp.%       TD      INT

Flacco      95       56        573         58.9          3          2

Brady       91       48        473         52.7          3          1

Today its particularly mind boggling. Apparently the Ravens should dump Rice, sit Flacco, sign Kenny Britt, and trade Ed Dickson for some practice squad player I never heard of and a draft pick. Sounds like a plan.

Like most of us wondering, did the OP even watch the game? or should Flacco throw and catch at the same time?

We need Brady's wife to explain........

Joe Flacco will play like he's being paid to play when his offensive line decides to give him some protection and his receivers decide to catch the football. Simple as that.

do u even watch ravens games? Flacco is playing efficient and better than what the stats show. its not his fault that TEs can't catch or no running game. so stop with this crappy/ clueless  talks. i would rather have QB that win SBs than win a stat sheet every year.

Yeah, a lot of folks on this site will recognize that I'm somewhat addicted to numbers and statistics, but even I know that when it really comes down to it, statistics only tell you so much.

You have to watch the game.  You can learn a lot about a team from the statistics, but not so much about a player.  I like the numbers because of what they say about how the team is performing.  What it really boils down to is that those numbers represent the way the offense is playing as a whole... not so much about how the quarterback himself is playing.

There is reason there are 11 men on the field for each team.  The receivers have to get open, they have to fight for the ball, they have to catch the ball; The blockers have to make sure the defensive line doesn't get to the quarterback and don't get their hands up to bat the ball; The coaches have to design plays that work and call the right plays at the right time.  When you put it all together, the passer rating statistic tells you how all those pieces are work in total.  It doesn't honestly tell you much about how the quarterback is playing.

A quarterback can play a virtually perfect game and still have a bad completion percentage, poor yards per attempt, have interceptions, and have a very bad stat line, because if the rest of the pieces of that puzzle aren't working, it shows up on one guy's stat sheet: the quarterback's, not necessarily through any fault of his own.  That's been the story with Joe Flacco in 2013.
