UPDATE: Trent Richardson traded for then Benched by Colts

266 posts in this topic

There should have been a few teams willing to trade more than that for him, I would imagine mike Tomlin his smashing his head into wall like just a 1st rounder and bruising run game could have been had lol...

That was still under Homlgren, the new regime traded away Richardson. Usual not our guy so let's get our guy.

Anyone want to trade 3 7th round picks in 2014-2016 for Joe Thomas and Joe Haden, I mean if they are giving away first round picks why not lol.

Exactly!

Ozzie should give Cleveland a call...make some offers. You never know!!! lol

Obviously, Cleveland has decided if Indy can Suck for Luck, they can suck for whatever QB is tops in 2014 Draft.

PIT catches a big break with this news.  They are unlikely to lose to CLE now, since they won't have to worry about their main weapon anymore.

Glad we won't have to face him twice a season anymore. I can't believe the Browns are throwing in the towel after two games. Richardson has serious potential!

Ya I agree with the first part, but I couldn't see them trading him to a divisional rival

It would be really hard to mess it up. Bridgewater is not a once-in-a-lifetime-Andrew-Luck-prospect, but he, at the very least, is a legit franchise QB.
There is nothing flukey about him. He is not too depended on great weapons in his offense or exotic schemes, he is not a mobile QB, who needs athelticism to cover up his inability to make good decisions passing the ball (like so many of the young QBs, analysts seem to be stoked about). In short, he should be the #1 pick.
Unless the Browns try to be cute and do actually buy into the Johnny Football hype, which would be a HUGE mistake, this really should be EXTREMELY simple.
Heck, the second pick isn't that hard either. The WR class this year is solid through and through. Even, if they don't land a probowler in the draft, they will atleast have an upgrade over their current receivers.
I could do the draft for them and do good job this year.

Let me repeat....

They're the BROWNS. Someway, somehow they'll screw it up

They could screw it up the same way they did here.  They just traded the #3 overall pick from last year for pick likely in the 20s (late teens at best) next year.  Not to mention all the picks they gave up to Minnesota to move up to 3 from 4.

Chudzinski's Offense > Trent Richardson

Stupid Browns.

I'm with ya. If a coach is any good at all, you gameplan around the best player's strengths, not leave him out in the cold, and especially never ever trade him away just because he doesn't fit what you want to do.

This sounds like a Cam 'fit-the-square-peg-in-the-round-hole-type situation.  It will only end up badly.

It's a good thing for clowns fans they can cuss on their forum.

Great news for Steelers though they won't end up last in AFCNorth

Cleveland Clowns: love the alliteration!

Yeah, PIT is pretty much locked into 3rd place now, barring a Rothlisberger injury or something else drastic.

This is... surprising.

Then again... it IS the Browns.

Also, what if McGahee doesn't pass the physical? Then what are they gonna do?

Oh, so many questions...

And now, the media is going to ride Luck's Jock like it's no tomorrow!

They should. Richardson and Luck sounds like a ridiculous combination.

Luck and Richardson are going to be deadly.

I have to say, this trade is like something from Madden. In fact, someone want to try to simulate this trade in Madden? Tell me if it works. I bet it's too unrealistic for even Madden!

I'm stunned here. Essentially, this means the Colts for the 1st & 3rd overall picks in the 2012 draft, IIRC. Just unbelievable. Stunning.

Too bad their defense still sucks, and their O-line still has needs.  But they are loaded at skill positions (well at least until Wayne retires).

Colts are a strange team, they are almost building for the future yet they want to desperately win now.

Willis has passed 2 physicals already this fall.. He's available and ready

I wonder, if the Browns will be losing games on purpose this season. You don't want to go on a unfortunately timed winning streak and see the Jags pick Bridgewater before you.

This move is all about setting them up to take a QB next year. Having a 2nd 1st round pick gives them extra ammunition in case they aren't picking #1 overall.

The more I think about this trade, the more I like it for the Browns. Hell, the Colts might even be worse off from this than the Browns long-term.

The Browns have two really glaring holes that they can now plug in the first round. Even if they don't land the first pick, they could pick up Manziel or Boyd and still land a top-tier WR prospect. In the meantime, they can snap up a decent starter at RB in the second round and make sure he fits the new scheme.

I can see the argument about the return they're getting for their earlier picks, but I don't buy it. At the end of the day, this regime needs to put themselves in a better position than the one they're in already, and I think in three years time we'll say they've done just that. It's not Lombardi's fault the last guy made the moves he did: he has to work in the now.

On the other hand, I think the Colts have more positions of need than RB. Not that this doesn't make their offence a lot more handy, but I think they could have been better served using their first rounder on a different area.

But the team picking #1 is probably just as desperate for a QB as they are.

That's why you need as much ammunition as you can get. The two teams most likely to be picking #1 are the Raiders and the Jaguars. The Raiders have two decent options at QB right now but desperately need help just about everywhere else. Throw a ton of picks their way and see if they bite.

Thanks.  I love this part: 28 members and 423 guests are reading it.  In other words, 423 people want to see the reactions of the Browns fans.

If you had posted that on Twitter, you would have gotten a bunch of retweets for that.

And the Browns want to get out of the basement of the AFC North?: Okay they are loaded with draft picks but.... can they put together a solid draft?

Good luck Trent. Glad you're out of the North.

Yes, they are loaded with draft picks but so was New England.
