UPDATE: Trent Richardson traded for then Benched by Colts

266 posts in this topic

Browns choose #1. Selects Bridgewater.

Browns trade (some pick in the 20's), 2nd round pick and next years 1st for #2 overall where they choose Clowney.

Would be crazy haha

If you put it this way, this might not be that bad of a move. With or without Trent, the Browns are not a playoff team. If they want to compete against Baltimore, Cinci and Pitt instead of being the odd man out, they need to do something drastic.

They can't improve their defense, which already is rough and physical, so drafting offense is the way to go.

Next years draft class has a couple really good QBs (Bridgewater looks like a franchise QB, imho) and very talented receivers.

Who knows? Their last draft was solid.

Well that tells me they have to be thinking QB in next year's draft.  Bridgewater if they get lucky enough, but there are some very good quarterbacks in the 2014 class, IMO.

History of the Browns having two draft picks...

2007:

3rd Overall Pick: Joe Thomas

22nd Overall Pick: Brady Quinn

2012:

3rd Overalll Pick: Trent Richardson

22nd Overall Pick: Brandon Weeden

History showed their first pick was guaranteed to be a success but their other pick was a bust. They just traded away the successful player and kept the bust from 2012.

Woww.. The Browns offense is now insanely bad, especially without Weeden, Good for us though.

Maybe better for the Browns in the long run - it's not exactly a "suck for Luck" situation, but in theory all of the other current 0-2 teams won't be in the hunt for a QB next year, which means they could land a guy like Teddy Bridgewater.

Imagine how the players, especially on defense feel.

The fans....oh the fans. I don't feel sorry for them though. They deserve it for living in Cleveland. It's just a cursed sports town, that's what they're most know for hahaha

This is nuts.  He was the 3rd overall pick in 2012.  Are they really going to get equal value next year?  I guess they feel they need a QB in the first round plus something else.  Insane.  I thought some of the Colts recent decisions weren't so great, but this could really put them in contention.

Theres talk doing the rounds that Josh Gordon might be available too, I wonder if Ozzie would take a look at that for a 3rd?

Seriously? Forget Josh Gordon, send us Joe Thomas.

Interesting that their busts were both quarterbacks taken at 22.  But if their FO lands Bridgewater, or even takes a patient approach and takes a guy like AJ McCarron in the second round and uses those 2 first rounders elsewhere, I think they're better off in the long run with 2 first round picks and no Richardson.  They need a quarterback, otherwise they're going to be like the Vikes with Peterson.

Wow. What a strange move.

Richardson's stats haven't been all that. But he looks like the real deal still to me.

Still so young and so much talent.

Loading up on draft picks to get the QB they want for the future I guess. Bridgewater to the Browns. But they will face stiff competition from the bound to be 0-16 Jags.

Jaguars GM David Caldwell's response to this trade: What do you mean Cleveland wants Teddy Bridgewater?

Yeah, I guess i should have made that past tense.  I still can't decide if I'd be happy the Browns landed a competent quarterback - on the one hand, it would mean they'd be more trouble than they already are, but on the other hand it would be the same for the Bengals and Steelers.

So is Bobby rainey worth picking up in fantasy?

Yes. If you have room pick up him and McGahee. I dropped my kicker until sunday so I could store them both. Matthew Berry says either has better upside than Obgonnya.

Well they essentially made the statement that anyone is available with the Richardson trade. I'm all for sending an offer their way

What do you reckon it would cost? I believe we will be getting a few high compensation picks this year right?

Oh and to top it off, Brian Hoyer is the starting quarterback on Sunday against Cleveland. They are clearly tanking, so the 2013 season will be "Water Under The Bridge" for the Browns.

Knowing how horrible browns scouts are, i'd say they'd go all-in on a clown like manziel

I know a Browns fan and after this trade I feel like I should go apologize to her. I don't know what I would be apologizing for but maybe just because I feel bad for her.

Imagine if Trent would've been trade to Denver. I don't know if the browns tried shopping him because I feel they could've got more, but can you imagine how nasty Denver's offense would be.

Also when PM retires they'll have a run game to ease a new QB into, and when the weather gets cold and PM starts playing like he always does they'll just be able to pound the ball.

It would be really hard to mess it up. Bridgewater is not a once-in-a-lifetime-Andrew-Luck-prospect, but he, at the very least, is a legit franchise QB.

There is nothing flukey about him. He is not too depended on great weapons in his offense or exotic schemes, he is not a mobile QB, who needs athelticism to cover up his inability to make good decisions passing the ball (like so many of the young QBs, analysts seem to be stoked about). In short, he should be the #1 pick.

Unless the Browns try to be cute and do actually buy into the Johnny Football hype, which would be a HUGE mistake, this really should be EXTREMELY simple.

Heck, the second pick isn't that hard either. The WR class this year is solid through and through. Even, if they don't land a probowler in the draft, they will atleast have an upgrade over their current receivers.

I could do the draft for them and do good job this year.

It's crazy they trade him for only a 1st round pick that will be low first rounder for sure I mean they could have at least squeezed out a 3rd rounder too lol... Idiots lol
