Texans Rivalry?

49 posts in this topic

I don't think there is one. No more than any other tough team that we see occasionally. We haven't play them enough regular season games.

There could be a minor rivalry if both teams keep finishing in first place.  No where near like Ravens-Steelers, but could be like Ravens-Pats.

They have beaten us once in their history. Not a rivalry.

they want to be us (Ravens) sooooo bad...don't they? lol!

Okay it seems to me that in the NFL every AFC team is a rivalry! They are all very good teams trying to reach for the same trophy. So why would there not be?

Might seem that way b/c the competition in NFL isnt as lopsided as it was in the past. The structure of NFL is being built so every team can get back in the 'game' ever since 10'. Drafts, players contract are all more realized and function to cater to help improve the team--better than before.

This is one reason why i love NFL, they aren't afraid of change to improve the game. NBA, MLB are so ancient and behind compare to NFL.

It is cute how they are trying to force the rivalry upon us lol....

Texans fans....a rivalry implies:

1) mutual hatred

We actually generally like the Texans here. We like your philosophies and think your franchise has done an admirable job in recent years. We snicker with you when we hear about the Cowboys being "America's Team"...they aren't even Texas' team! That's the fans perspective.

From the players perspective, I know for a fact that a lot of Ravens and Texans players are close friends off the field. Doesn't sound like much hatred going on there.

2) both teams win a good amount of time

Steelers are our rivals, because we hate each other and predicting the winner of one of our games is akin to flipping a coin and guessing heads or tails.

It took ten years for Houston to get their first win over us....

I think it is more of a rivalry in the minds of Texans fans since they have only beaten the Ravens once.

I agree, It needs to develop a bit more. We both are "new" franchises and we already have 2 superbowls under our belts. They have had some success in recent years but not to our extent. But still they should be happy for a new team and we should be grateful for already having 2 superbowls and playoff success.

Steelers rivalry was clealy #1 in my book until Hines Ward retired. Then it lost some luster after that point....[/quote]Also the Steelers are looking really bad this year...so we shall see how they do against us.

Rivalry to be determined.  As of right now just two good AFC teams that have been good at the same time the last 4 years...    I am sure Raven fans root against the Texans in all games save those that can help Baltimore, and vice-versa.    Has the makings though...

Texans just did get their 1st win against the Ravens last year. They are 1-6 against the Ravens, no disrespect but that's HARDLY a rivalry.

I wouldn't call us a "new" franchise anymore.  especially, after all that the Ravens have been through and accomplished over the past 17 years.  but, I get your point! :D

What rivalry? The fact that they have beaten us one time in several tries does not make it a rivalry. In that case, Jacksonville should also be deemed a rivalry since they beat us too!

One thing I will say is, up until a couple years ago, we were screaming at the Pats fan base to acknowledge our rivalry based on close games and minimal wins.....and they, much like we're doing right now...dismissed it due to not winning enuff...we knew we were one of the teams they didn't want to see regardless of past outcomes...this is very much the same case.

Me personally, I wouldn't call this a rivalry..but I damn sure aint happy to see them every year.

Perfect post.

With the Texans it is at least a one sided rivalry.
That said, I pretty much hate them and I am not looking forward to this game.

We made it a rivalry by winning some games, including in the playoffs at their place. It is on the Texans to make themselves a rival to us.

I don't see a rivalry at all with this team. The only 2 rivalries we really have right now are Steelers (barely) and Pats

Back in the early years of the Ravens, the Jags were one of our most hated teams. They never should have existed (that team should have been ours), they always beat us, and their fans infested our stadium. Once we beat them and their fans disappeared, no rivalry.

I remember full well when the Jags led by Brunell played us tough. They were a feared rival at that time as was Tennessee.
