Our TE Situation

Bowe plays for the Chiefs and caught a TD pass on Sunday. How many TD passes have our TEs caught this year?

Why are you comparing Dwayne Bowe to TEs?

what happened to Ed Dickson? he always had suspect hands but he used to make SOME plays in the passing game....he outproduced Pitta a few years ago...now its like he's completely lost his confidence as a receiver

they need to get him some easy catches to get his confidence going again....with Pitta down and us being thing at WR right now we need the TEs to produce and Clark is older and slower so DIckson is the guy

he's getting worse every game; something wrong with his game mentality.  Definitely, his confidence in the passing down is abysmal.

First, he needs to run crisp route and secondly he needs to catch the ball.  Jug machine can help him and tape and practice can help his route.  However, TE route is not hard cuz most of the time they do post, up the middle and across.

He needs to be out on the field 24/7 making love with his jug machine.

I assume from Harbaugh saying they need to get Dickson going that means that they are going to keep throwing to him until he figures out how to catch the ball.

they really don't have a choice.  only way we can open up the middle of the field right now.

I don't think the browns lined a safety more than 12 yards off the line of scrimage.

Our TE situation really sucks. We have 2 blocking TEs in Dickson and Bajema. No pass catching TE (Clark is too fragile or is really old).

We need to activate Furstenberg and give him opportunities soon. Next year, we'll have Pitta, Furstenberg and Bajema as our 3 TEs. At least we'll have TEs that can catch!

Our best and most realistic chance, is to hope Dallas Clark steps up.

I wish Pitta could return this season, but his injury is pretty serious.

Ed Dickson is absolutely dreadful... not only does he drop perfect passes, he gets penalized for holding. There's a reason Joe didn't target him after the first play of the game. His play has been completely unacceptable.

I hope Furstenburg gets a shot soon...

It's a tricky situation, for sure.  As much as people want Clark gone, he's been better than Dickson.

You can't get rid of Bajema since he's the only one that actually knows how to block, which is vital considering our OL isn't exactly lighting the world on fire.  I don't think you can get rid of Clark right now either, as despite his drops, he's the most reliable pass catcher on the team, which isn't saying much.  Then it comes down to Dickson.  As bad as he's been, would we really cut him and rely on a vet on his last leg, a blocking TE, and a UDFA that hasn't show to be ready yet?  I'm not sure our team is currently set up to make a move at TE.

this guy sure asks a lot of questions he already know..

I don't know what this means.

As for my question, I looked back through the conversation and must have missed something. Is it supposed to be common knowledge why we're comparing Bowe to our TEs now? What's the link?

I don't know why you seem to get upset at anything I say on this board.

The solution may be to run more 3 WR sets when Jacoby and Deonte return.

I'd like to see what Furstenburg could do at TE, rather than run Dickson out there again this week. Bajema is not really a pass catching TE, he may catch a ball or two when he catches a defense by surprise, but if he were the starter and defenses were game planning for him, he would not be much of a threat. As for Clark, in my opinion he is about 1 or 2 more drops from being in the same category as Dickson (unreliable).

I know who Dwayne Bowe is. My point was that hes NOT A TE, and I don't know why then youre comparing him to our TE's.

Regardless of his stats hes still a WR.

His hands are so bad right now that I wouldn't trust handing him the ball. This goes far beyond him having suspect hands. He really needs to be dog housed for a few. Maybe that will wake him up.

My bad. I thought he was a TE. Were the rest of the players I named in my post TEs. My point is with or without Pitta we would still be rated near the bottom of the NFL in TEs. The rookies I saw play in the Cincy-Pittsburgh game were better than Dropsum or I mean Dickson. Thanks for setting me straight!

You listed 7 people. One is not a TE, one is still recovering from yet another offseason surgery, one is in his final year playing, and the others play for teams that failed to make the playoffs last year. Before Pitta's injury, we were being discussed as the team with the best one-two punch at TE after Hernandez was out of NE. Obviously, Dickson has really underachieved, but Pitta was the best TE in the playoffs last year until Davis went off against us in the Superbowl. With him, we were completely fine. Without him, with have a glaring weakness.

I think  Ed Dickson will eventually get it together i know he wasnt sure handed in the past but this is  the same guy that caught 54 reception worth of  528 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns in 2011.
