Marlon Brown:
4 rec, 45 yards, 1 TD

Anquan Boldin
1 rec, 7 yards

Just to balance out all those threads from last week ;). To be serious, though: I like the fact that young receivers have more of a chance to play on this team since Boldin's trade. If only we didn't sign Stokley, then we'd have a completely young wide receiver core: I understand the signing of Dallas Clark was essential. But I'd honestly be comfortable with this kind of receiving corps moving forward, and I do not think we'd know of or have Marlon or Aaron on our team if Anquan Boldin was still on it. It's a move that helps us in the future, and gives us delayed gratification: delayed results. Marlon will only get better. Aaron will only get better. Tandon, will only get better (does anyone know how young Doss is?!?), and Deonte will only get better. All these guys get pushed down the depth chart when veterans like Anquan, Jacoby or Brandon are taking snaps. It hinders their development. And honestly, the trade of Anquan Boldin and injury to Jacoby Jones are the best things that could happen for the future of this WR corps.

Torrey: 24

Marlon: 22

Tandon: 23
Deonte: 24

Aaron: 23

Tight ends, however, Dennis Pitta is already 28

Dennis: 28

Ed: 26

Matt: 24

Woah. Slow down. Yes we do have a great front office but lets give this recent batch of talent some time before we bring out the jury. I still want to see how Huff,  Daryl ( Very Impressing although) ,Clark , Stockley , Spears , Canty and the other rookies pan out first.

Yes Marlon Brown looks good and the receivers are young but they were buried down the depth charts for a reason. All of these guys were mid-late picks even undrafted. Besides do you really think we would have went out and gotten guys like LEE EVANS and HOUSH then eventually Boldin if we had starter quality WRs on our depth chart.

Edit: Boldin has always sucked vs big physical corners, they're faster but they can also beat him in a 1v1 fight for the ball. We all knew this.

One good game doesn't redeem the FO after the blowout in Denver. They still left our franchise QB with no weapons after the Boldin trade.

This is also partially true.

very well said and I agree 100% Sherman shut boldin down . we needed to get younger on both sides of the ball and once we get past some growing pains we will be fine . This week showed improvement over last week and that's a positive and each week brings more practice etc.

I would hold onto that celebration. We were struggling pretty hardcore going 3&out a ton. We scraped off a W vs. Browns.

Tough road ahead. We'll see what happens.

Tandon Doss sucks. His age is irrelevant.

There are some encouraging signs from Marlon Brown though.

Doss will put this sign right in front of his locker and remember it.....I hope...

3 & out a ton? Twice in the first half, once in the second. That's not a record, but it certainly isn't a "ton".

Probably not a ton, but i would say in terms of 3rd down efficiency, we are @ bottom half of NFL.

I am thinking too of the alligator arms Brown got early in the game when he was in the endzone after running a pattern up the sideline. ...must have been nerves.

How about them "alligator" arms when he caught the only passing TD we scored on the day??

So Torrey, Pitta and Rice aren't weapons? Had Dennis not gone down, there wouldn't have been as big a need to rely on younger WRs and vets on their last legs like Stokley and Clark. That said, Pitta's injury has allowed Brown to emerge as a potential building block for the future.

Actually we are 9th in the NFL in 3rd down efficiency despite having the most 3rd downs in the NFL and we have only ran the ball exactly one time on third down (versus 37 passes). We have converted 16 of our third downs, the only team to convert more third downs is San Diego with 17. We have been good on third down, despite having also been entirely one dimensional (97.4% pass vs 2.6% rush). And we would have been even better than that if not for receivers dropping very catchable balls. Once the receivers start to catch consistently we could actually have an insanely good offense.

Nothing essential about signing Dallas Clark.  Unfortunately, his salary is guraranteed the rest of the year 'cuz if it wasn't he'd probably be out of here.  Where was he yesterday?  (Not that I missed him)

Marlon and Torrey are capable blockers. I'd rather have all WR sets at this point rather then putting in Clark and Dickson. I think we need Jacoby and/or Deonte back before we throw that many WRs in though.

Im not really sure what happened to Dickson. Not that he was ever exceptional... but he did make some plays. Now, he looks horrible. Maybe the hammy isn't back to 100 percent?

Actually, I believe it was Jacoby's injury that's allowed Brown to emerge. Pitta's WOULD have allowed Dickson to emerge but I guess that just isn't going to happen.

I think Clark will be alright if Joe ever trusts him again. I said it in another thread that our TEs were only targeted, as a group, three times. Joe has lost faith in them all.

Thanks for saving me the time.  I love when people just blatantly make stuff up.

Well, lets not go overboard.

A loss to Cleveland at Home would have been disastrous. The Fire Alarm does not need pulled yet and the Raven's may begin to improve from here on. Also, the Raven's found a way to win even down 1 Turnover. The Defense was dominant in the second half, but it was Cleveland.

If the Raven's can get through the next 4 games 2 -2 there's two games thereafter they should win vs Cleveland and Pittsburgh. A 5 - 3 record at mid-season would be very acceptable from this perspective.

If we actually do lose two games over the next month, like he said would be acceptable, he'll be right back here with the doomsday posts.

Are We not Superbowl Champions?.....Aren't Superbowl Champions supposed to give a professional showing in the season following their Championship?

Houston

Miami

Buffalo

Green Bay

You'd think the Houston and Green Bay games would likely be the losses even though they are at Home. And you might believe the Miami and Buffalo games would be the wins even though they are on the road.

Whether the Fire Alarm gets pulled or not depends upon the results don't you think?

You would have to consider one thing though, the Ravens would love to play the Browns for the next four straight weeks, but those teams are not the Browns.

I'd accept 2 - 2, but less than that could result in pulling the Fire Alarm.

Fire Marshall Poes, standing at the ready!

Let Fate be Determined by the Results!!!!

If last week wasnt pulling the fire alarm, i dont want to see you pull it.

And you'll accept losses at home to both Green Bay and Houston, but weren't accepting of a season opening loss on the road to Denver?

I just don't believe you when you say you'd "accept" going 2-2.  We've seen what happens when we lose one game, and we don't want to see what happens if we lose 2.  By the way, the Superbowl Champions the last three years have lost a minimum of 6 games, with two of them losing 7.  If Superbowl Championship is your hope, then no fire alarm needs to be pulled anytime before we exceed that.
