Josh Bynes vs. Arthur Brown

66 posts in this topic

Bynes had 9 tackles and 1TFL but I didn't really take note how he ,individually, played today. But Is the general consensus that Arthur Brown should be starting instead of him?

I really want to see what Brown has. Bynes has no where near the potential and upside that Brown has and I personally think the best way to develop him is to throw him into the fire. Besides Bynes only has 1-2 games experience , not enough to give him an edge over Brown imho.

Brown got injured AGAIN. I'm calling it. He's a bust. Kid can't still healthy for more than a week. Sorry but the writing is on the wall with him.

Uh, what? He's still injured from that pectoral thing, from what I heard? Is there another report out there or are you speculating?

Surprised you didn't blast him for the bust comment.

art brown will be fine. Elam sadly was a wastec pick. ozzie hasnt been good from 2009 onwards, esp in the 1st round.

You keep saying this... yet we're 4 games into Elams career...

he has had 0 impact. you could get 4th round talent to do what hes doing. he is too small and not smart. he isnt troy. not even close. hes a mini pollard. which basicaly means hes a worse version of polard.

Why was Elam a wasted pick?

Because he doesn't have a pick and is therefore automatically considered a bust even though he's only played 3 games.

4 GAMES.  He's a rookie.  If you're going to be this negative about everything, just don't post.  Nothing you say ever has any basis.

Prevented a 70 plus yard TD isn't making an impact.

I love Matt Elam's attitude though, every interview I have seen from him, leads me to beleave he is very bright, humble, and very motivated to be great!  I like this, everyone is talented in the NFL you have to have the fire to be great.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions even if I personally think they're very misguided. He only says that because Alonso had a Hell of a game against us, another LB I absolutely loved.

If anyone recalls, I frequently said that Alonso had the highest ceiling of all ILB in the draft but the greatest question marks regarding whether he could reach it. Both careers are young. I wouldn't call one a bust and the other a pro bowl player yet. That's just me.

. ozzie hasnt been good from 2009 onwards,

Benard Pierce (3rd round-2012)
Torrey Smith (2nd-2011)
Dennis Pitta (4th-2011)
Arthur Jones (5th round - 2010)
Phernell Mcphee( 5th - 2011)
.

Jimmy Smith did not allow a reception all game.

But I'm not going to argue with you, you seem to understand... little.

sorry but jimmy smith is way too flawed. wouldnt you have preffered mohamed wilkerson? he was there for the taking. jimmy smith is not a first round success. hes an inconsistant cb capable f a good press coverage here or there.

Outside of a couple of plays against the Broncos, Jimmy has been lights out this season. Watch the games and don't go off of reputation.

In hindsight you certainly take Wilkerson, but you also are lambasting elam who is playing out of position and is 4 games into his career.  Which is pretty laughable.  I'm not saying you're going to be wrong, but that's just a ridiculous thing to do as a fan.

EDIT: Also Upshaw is playing excellent in run d and coverage.  I know he doesn't have a sack, but I'm really impressed with him.

Yep. Jimmy had had a few mistakes but right now he's our best CB.

Jimmy is playing extremely well, find somebody else to blame if you want to be angry with somebody. Ridiculous. So many people want to see the kid fail since he wasn't able to live up to his potential his first 1-2 years due to injuries etc. so in their eyes he must become a bust now otherwise they might have been wrong about him and that would be terrible of course, if Smith turns out to be a great corner. Shake my head.

Anyway, I don't know why Bynes is still on this team. It's absurd how bad he actually is and I don't see what the coaches see in him. He's maybe the worst cover linebacker I have ever seen on this team, and he might be the worst run defending LB I have ever seen on this team. Did he win a contest that would guarantee him a roster spot here for the rest of his life? Get rid of him already, play with 10 guys, I don't care, just cut him loose already. I'm tired of seeing him getting blocked, pancaked and give up catch after catch to TE's in the passing game.

Yeah and people now even want our just drafted players to fail as well.

Bynes is failing week in week out, it's not a question of wanting him to fail, he's doing it. I'd love to see him play well and dominate but he is absolutely terrible and totally useless on the field, he's proving it every single game. Don't tell me to pull for him when he hasn't shown me anything that would make me think he can be a better player. He is absolutely terrible in every single aspect, he was an undrafted free agent. Those guys never have anybody pull for them, they either play well and get a shot for more playing time or they don't perform and get cut. That's the life of a late rounder / undrafted free agent. Nobody will stick with them if they struggle because they usually don't have the skills/talent to make it in the NFL which is why they went undrafted. Now what that has to do with Jimmy I don't know. Jimmy is playing well and he was a 1st rounder with loads of talent. Bynes has very little talent. Personally I haven't seen anything on him I'd even consider talent worthy. He's just awful. Can't tackle well, can't cover that's for sure and can't shed blocks or stop the run. Why is he still on the field playing?

Durrr, how is bynes on the team? Durrr so bad.

Well... Deductive reasoning would take you to the obvious conclusion that he must be the best we have until Brown is healthy. He's on the team out of necessity.
