Kudos to Jimmy Smith!

I gotta give it up to Jimmy Smith. He played smart and tough.

The secondary as a whole too. Webb played like his usual self. Graham - ok. Speed in the slot will get him, but a solid effort.

The secondary looked like a cohesive unit after that blown coverage by Elam. Let's hope this is the start of his coming out party.

Some of that is pass rush.  Generally speaking slot receivers running across the whole field will get open. But Houston is a concern, big test for us.

I can't believe when he made the play that almost got picked off by Daryl Smith (yeah, so I'm counting almost intercepts :p ), that rather than celebrating the play Jimmy made people started griping about how Daryl didn't catch it.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say all the Broncos bandwagon fans had jumped over here after our SB win.

Great to see him playing so well though, this could be a big year for him.

And all it took was a kick to the nuts to get him into form.

Any word on the injury and ihedigbo hit him?

He missed a few plays, but came back in.  He's fine.

I've been one of Jimmy's biggest advocates since Day 1.  He has good closing speed and will just keep getting better.  I'm not saying he's ready to be a Pro Bowler but he's getting better with each game.  When Asa Jackson returns to action, we will have a formidable secondary to go along with a great front seven.  Denver is not as good as they looked against us and we're not as bad as we looked against them in the second half.  Training at 5000 feet altitude makes a big difference for two teams on opening night.  Go Jimmy!  I can't wait to see Jimmy and Lardarius start making pics once they gain more confidence in our two new safeties. Next week's game with Houston should be a hum dinger!

I've been really tough on Jimmy, but I thought he played well even in Denver.  Houston will be a test, but he did very well today. Also had some nice hits.

Yeah, he was sure of himself today, seemed poised and fluid.  Greg Little isn't that tough of a cover.

Greg Little's a joke. Has butter fingers and runs his mouth too much.

Well, he is only a first-round pick, shouldn't he start playing like one? Maybe he is starting to develop.

Yeah J.Smith played well. Plus he played press more in this game, which I think plays more to his strength.

I hope you're right about the D as a whole JimJim. The talent is there, we just need to put it all together out on the field.

Before the season started, I thought the defense had the chance to be top 10 as far as ppg goes. They looked real impressive today.

As I said in the Game Day thread, all he needed was a swift kick in the nuts to start balling out.  Looked very good in the second half today.

Remember when people wanted him instead of Torrey?

I will give him his props. He did have a good game.

Still not going to jump on that Wagon.  Need to see it on every game.

I am very worried about our Defense as a whole. For all the Great Players we have up front there shouldnt be any excuses for not getting as much pressure as we should.  The BROWNS O line plain out sucks, only person that is a pro bowler is J.Thomas at left tackle.

Very, Very, Very worried about this Re Re play calling.  Again running it on 2 and 22, are you kidding me. Its getting old.

I really dont get how the Offense completely stops doing what is actually working ( throwing a  12 - 15 yard slant pass up the middle), yet when something isnt working , they keeping doing it expecting a different outcome. If that isnt insanity , i dont know what is.

There is just NO imagination, also, can you please give me a little trick play once in a blue moon. A flea flicker wouldnt hurt once and a while.

It's not the play calling.  It's the blocking and the execution.  Also without Jones the line is starting to get crowded, so it's hard to work the middle.

First and foremost, hope Smith is OK.

Secondly, Smith really seemed to know his assignment and he made some great heads-up plays.  As someone stated earlier, maybe he is starting to develop, maybe the game is finally start to slow down for him.  Now, if he can just remain healthy.

He would fit right in with our team honestly.

I just dont understand why our WR cant get open, yet the team we are playing , you will see their WRers  wide open.

That just tells me, our Secondary plain sucks or our WRers just cant get open OR our play calling is the problem.

Honestly, i think its a little or A Lot of everything above.

Im sure ,  sooner or later everyone will start to realize JIM CALDWELL is not an O.C..  He never was on any other team. He was an Assistant H.C. then a H.C.  at INDY.

Im not sold on Caldwell,  the Playcalling reminds me of  Cam but in some ways alot worse and in a very few ways a bit better.

Sooooo Sick of these dumb attempts of Trying to run the ball on these Crazy off the wall yardage  of 2nd or even 3rd and 20 plus yards.  The sad thing is, the offense isnt fulling anyone and that is the Main problem Its an uphill battle everytime

I dont think i saw 1 play action today from the Ravens. It sure as heck didnt feel like it.

If Caldwell's play calling reminds you of Cam, you must not know a lot about offensive formations.  The problem is we lack speed and defenses are starting to crouch on us.  Missing Jacoby and Deonte is hurting us a lot.

He won the Superbowl as an OC, we have new personnel, let's just give it time.

I love these bunch formations. Its the Running plays i have a problem with. Its actually when we run them is what i have a problem with.
