Brynden Trawick - what is his celiing?

27 posts in this topic

I personally think he get a serious chance to see minutes if he can learn coverage quickly. He has all of the tools. I could see him supplanting Huff if defensive back field continues to be porous 5 games in.

Let the chorus start to call me crazy......

It's too early to say, but he has size and is a good tackler (minus tackling Jacoby). A lot of us have sour grapes about what he did, but there is upside.

He survived the cut for Doss, as Robert James is gone.  That probably bodes well for their feelings on him.

I would prefer to see Omar Brown with that roster spot

I really thought Omar was going to start.  He diagnosis plays quickly, but he's a little undersized and a liability on Special teams.  Trawick is an exceptional special teams player consistently beating blockers.  But I would rather have omar out there too.

The other thing about putting undersized players on ST is that they may get injured, which is no good for anybody.  It's one of the more physical parts of the game.

Well, we already know that the guy is a big tackler, as evidenced on Jacoby Jones' return... oh wait....

He is decent in coverage, and he truly is a good tackler, just very raw as far as diagnosing plays go. Athletically, he's a good player. Otherwise, no.

As long as he lays out a few opposing team players as effectively as he laid out our own, his ceiling is unlimited. Right now he's treading water.

Think you guys are really not considering how solid his position is on this team. He is the #2 free safety behind Huff. That means Trawick = Zibby.

Elam is the #2 FS, despite what the depth chart says.  Never trust the depth chart.  It rarely means anything.

I thought of that to. However, I could see Elam and Tradwick in together if Ihedigbo fails (Huff is just a matter of time). However, I think Ihedigbo is currently the best safety of the bunch.

I doubt they're thinking of Trawick at S at all this year.  He's purely a ST player at this point.

"Brynden Trawick - what is his ceiling?" - fortunately something he cant run into .... :268213:

but in all seriousness... I do think he can be a good player. Hes a heavy hitter that's very athletic. Granted that's only half the battle but he made a rookie mistake (albeit an unexcusable one). He'll recover from this and my gut says we get some solid contributions as a backup and STs player for a couple years before he gets an opportunity to start somewhere else.

4 to 6 weeks is his roof for me... but seriously he can't play worst that what he already has so all signs would point to high.

How can he be as good as you all say. He has to be blind. Ran into and injured our #2 receiver and one of the best return men in the NFL while he was trying to make a fair catch. I am furious with him! I'd cut him as soon as he came off the field.

How many Safeties are on the Roster?

We kept a lot of Safeties because we released the Kraken.

Agreed

I think he can at least take out someone as valuable as Rice, maybe Torrey. I would not think he will go as high as Joe or Ngata, but you never know.
