Opinion: List of Ravens FO/Coaching moves that have historically hurt the francise...

Candidly,
Flacco has been a slow learner when it comes to understanding the strengths of his receivers. He just learned the strengths of Boldin late in the championship season. But what's even more tragic thanFlacco's slow learning curve, is that the Raven Front Office NEVER understood.

Never did

Still won't admit it.

What Frosts Real Raven Fans is "Releasing" key players under contract. There is no excuse. There is no worthy explanation. Rah Rah Banner waiving in the face of such ignorance is transparent.

Stop it.

We better beat the Browns or the Calls for Heads to Roll will begin to grow. And we have to trade Matt Elam before his true value is known.

LMAO

LOL at people still crying about trading Boldin. There's no winning with you guys.

If we had kept Boldin for another year, we wouldn't have Dumervil, Canty, Spears, or Huff. So take away those guys, and we are starting (mostly) young unproven guys. So then our defense sucks, and you guys complain about that.

We trade Boldin, you complain about it. You can't have it both ways guys. This isn't Madden.

Move on.

Boy this board is strange after a loss.  It's been 1 game, against probably the most complete team we will face all year, and now the sky is falling.  Honestly we had two worse losses than this last year - Houston and Denver in the regular season, and I believe we capped it off with the Superbowl.

Change some names and numbers and the same could be said of any front office. Except for the couple of rings this front office has. Gotta take the bad with the good. Complaining isn't going to change anything.

That being said, Boldin sure would have looked nice out there is purple the other day. But I would look nice being about 30 years younger with a winning lottery ticket. Just saying.

Unless SF wins the SB though, honestly we can't say we lost yet. Because that's the goal.

Sure isn't looking good right now though.

SF looks explosive at every level. We gifted the WR position to them.

You really can't win.  I would guess that at least 28 fanbases which they could go to the playoffs five straight years and hoist a SB.

I think its partially because our fans are spoiled by our winning ways.

Well...some predicted the lopsided loss vs Denver. Many others predicted a Raven's win.

Don't forget Manning threw for 462 yards and a Record Tying 7 Touchdowns.  I've never seen our Safeties chasing plays from behind like that. Huff and Elam were both disgraces. (At Least Huff is Tall Enough to perhaps bat down a ball if he doesn't get sucked up like the rookie.)

The blame for those yards is not solely upon the Safeties.

Lets see how week 2 goes.

We let important players walk and it's not like we were a powerhouse before their departure. It

looks like we'll beat out the Steelers in our Division, but that's as far as I'm willing to project for us.

Wow. How is it you have never been hired to GM a team? What with your insightful knowledge and all?

What is it today with long thread titles...geez

Anyway, Anquan's performance today really stings especially on a team like the niners. i cannot stand them.

Everyone makes mistakes but it was just a bigger mistake than Ozzie anticipated. Maybe he thought Anquan would go back to regular season form because the way he played when Caldwell was here and today, i would think Ozzie would think he was worth the 7 mil. heck I would pay him 10 mil if he could be 1/2 as good as he was today but you can't be upset at Ozzie forever. we have to see what he has in store for the future first. remember that he wasn't going to keep guys longer just for a chance at a superbowl again (Reed as well) He is managing for the financial future.

I'm putting out hope Torrey, Marlon, and someone else in the future (draft?) will carry the WR corps i don't expect them to be elite. Every game i watch of the great QB's i wonder what would happen if joe had a guy like Vernon Davis, Julio, Roddy, Graham, Welker, Megatron, Gronk, the list goes on.

We are still a great team if we can get the chemistry and communication together. The division looks open for the taking if you watched our division today.

I'm predicting a Browns victory at M&T Bank Stadium.

It's predicated upon Ozzie's changes.

Cincinnati had three turnovers. They are the team to beat.

What important players - are you talking about Reed and Pollard?  Ed Reed is currently out, so even if he was a Raven he wouldn't have been there Thursday night.  Pollard didn't have some all-time great game against the Steelers either.  And I hope you aren't referring to either Cary Williams or Paul Kruger - both of them were paid well, well more than they were worth here.  Kruger is making more than Dumervil is for playing the same position.  What would you have done - where would all the money come from to pay these guys?

I am predicting a Ravens victory at M&T stadium and it is predicated upon the color orange and the number 3.

Let me ask you something....

If you were a G.M. and were intent upon drafting a Smallish Safety in the 1st round....and cutting your under contract Strong Safety.......what would possess you to let your Hall of Fame Free Safety go at the same time?  AND your 32 straight game starter at corner. (We lost Williams to Philly for 1 million.)  Why would you vacate your secondary like that? How could you do that????  And this doesn't even factor the Boldin Boondoggle.

I'd take Dumervil for 3 years over Boldin for 1.  With that said, I think we could have found a way to keep him.  It's annoying considering the slot is our biggest hole right now with Tight End right next to it.

It hurts more because the loss at TE was unexpected, as was the loss of our "#2" receiver as well

ouch..  very good point that was never really thought out logically. It;s like a loaded college team replacing their whole basketball backcourt with freshmen or a college football team turning over the whole secondary and LB core due to graduation. It would work better if your competion was going through the same thing!

It's called overthinking and shellshock (from former experiences -(cap purge after first SB)).

I would hardly call last years Secondary a "Loaded" college team

Touche. I revise that comment to say, "senior-laden secondary". Better?

First off, you do realize Elam didn't start in Denver, don't you?  Secondly, you know that Manning burned Ed Reed several times in his career, don't you?  Thirdly, as far as height goes, Ed Reed 5'11", Matt Elam 5'10" tall.  Webb 5'10", Bob Sanders 5'8".  What would possess me to let a 35 year old safety go for 5 million a year - I don't know, maybe he isn't worth that much any more.  I say again, Ed Reed WOULD NOT have been on the field in Denver post surgery, and we don't know when he will get back on the field.  And are you serious about Cary Williams - Dude signed for almost 6 million a year after starting barely 2 nfl seasons.  And he was picked on almost the entire time he was here.  You are seriously ovverating what these guys did for us last year.  You act like we lost 25 year old Ed Reed and  25 year old C-Mac in one go.

All of the free agents who left were overpaid.  Period.  Boldin I would personally not have let go.  But that's the only difference - Reed, Ellerbe, Kruger, Williams - all got more money than they were worth.

Also Earl Thomas 5'10", Troy Polamalu 5'10", and Eric Weddle 5'11"

I agree with this. except Ellerbe. Ellerbe will be a force for a long time. I think he is an exceptional player.
