Opinion: List of Ravens FO/Coaching moves that have historically hurt the francise...

255 posts in this topic

I will start:

1) Giving Kyle Boller too many years. You either have it or you don't. We really wasted some unbelievable defensive talent. A serviceable QB probably would have gotten the Ravens one more Superbowl trip.

2) Giving Cam Cameron too long of a leash and tenure. This man cost us BIG time with his ways.

3) Not letting Flacco grow early and make mistakes so he could organically grow to perfect his craft and test his limitations; evolve into a tactician, help make the offense unstoppable. He would have evolved to become the leader early on. No question. Flacco is very good to elite, but how many of you think he still has a higher level that he should and would be at right now???

4) Not fitting Boldin into his correct role somehow not finding a way to keep him. Watching Boldin do serious damage in SF really hurts to watch. **cry**

More negativity...

Its really quite annoying especially since this front office just helped us win a SB.

Boldin is gone, if you can't let it go then its best for you to give away your Raven jersey and get yourself a 9ers jersey.

I'd take Dumervil for 3 years over Boldin for 1.  With that said, I think we could have found a way to keep him.  It's annoying considering the slot is our biggest hole right now with Tight End right next to it.

They just whine, because they care. I don't see why anyone should get exiled from Ravens fandom, just because they're not 100% positive all the time.

Just asking a question concerning the team. This is a Ravens forum, correct??? I'm not trying to negative. I think my question is real. I love my team. I like where they are at, but this franchise is/was a gaggle of personnel moves away from being an elite of elite franchise.

I agree. It's very hard not to be annoyed after seeing Boldin go off like this.

100%?  Ha!  I'd take 5% positivity from the posters who tend to spearhead the negativity.

Wow, never made a mistake yourself, right?

You're really comparing my life decisions to a major, multi-tiered organization? Wow, talk about apples to oranges.

2 SBs in under 20 years, that's pretty elite.

You could make this list for any team. Ours is considerably shorter than most.

because its so easy to stay positive after thursday

Everyone deals with losses differently but I know one bad loss wouldn't push me to list various ways the franchise I root for has failed over the years, especially after they achieved their biggest triumph just 8 months ago.

lol I don't understand the Flacco point at all. Not sure how letting him start every game since his rookie year is different.

I'll still say it was our biggest mistake. I had a chance to meet the guy and get his sig and a pic with him so it sucks more for me. Just makes me sick watching these highlights of Boldin tearing it up.

i agree with all of what u said here, but FO didn't anticapate injury to pitta, and pitta was boldin's replacement, that said they could of found away to keep him,

5) Keeping Billick too long.

6) Waiting way too long to balance the offense.

agree h

Flacco should be better. He' clutch, no doubt. But the team has muzzled his talent till..... ehh... the last quarter of last year??? 4 and a half freaking years! Look at Kap, Wilson, and RG3 in year one. They were unleashed, right??? Do ou remember how Joe looked his rookie year?? He looked more dynamic.

What is the point of these threads. I don't understand the obsession with dwelling on negativity.

What is the point of lovefest threads???

Lovefest? You start a thread titled moves that have historically hurt the franchise... What is the point? As long as the mistakes aren't repeated then I'm content.

Instead of dwelling on the past and grabbing in the dark trying to find somebody to blame maybe you should let the professionals do their job. They did just win a Super Bowl this February. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing...

But the mistakes ARE being repeated.

....Keeping coaches to long.

... Holding back the talents of players.

... WR decisions.

rinse, repeat.

So true

It's exhausting coming on here and sifting through all the sky is falling threads started by members with less than 50 posts.

Dumervil is 5 years, Canty 3, Spears 2, Huff 2, Smith 1, Stokley 1, Clark 1, Leach back on a reduced 2 year. All moves that were able to happen because we let Q go. I just cannot believe we couldn't get more than a 6th round pick.

I'd say elaborate, but I really don't care.

A mistake would have been trying to hold the team from last year together for an attempt at a repeat this year. Ozzie attempted to do that following our last Championship and it just led to the team being in Cap Hell. He made it clear that he wasn't going to REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKE and went in a direction that has led to fans like you questioning his ability to manage our football team. I support Ozzie and find all the negativity perpetuated on here to be exhausting and counterproductive.
