Seven Nation Army Chant

135 posts in this topic

Imagine 50k+ fans caw'ing and flapping arms while on defense giving M&Tbank the nickname "The Raven's Nest"

I think that would probably be the most lame thing I would ever witness.

I was thinking about how awesome it would be and then you're right.

I heard it clearly on TV when we played the Dolphins in Miami earlier this year.  I just assumed it was a lot of Ravens fans, which there were anyway, lol.

Yes there were, according to the Miami Herald they put it at 22,000 Ravens Fans.

The tailgating was awesome, it was a sea of purple..

And during the game, when their PA announcer played the 7 army nation music, i said to the mrs, "This place is going to go nuts"

The worst part was when they were interviewing a handful of fans down I'm New Orleans for the Super Bowl and the few fans would just start the chant up and they would all be out of sync. It just sounded horrible, the people also looked like idiots, do the chant or at least the lip movements of the chant and look into the mirror and you'll know what I mean by them looking like idiots, lol.

I will say this, I was at our last home game vs the Jets a few years back (when Webby got the pick 6) and that was the first time I experienced that chant at the bank and it was pretty cool at the time.

That chant is so outplayed. It was used for years overseas, and now the homers are trying to claim it as a baltimore thing? seriously?( insults removed)

Honestly, I think the Seven Nation Army chant is way overused. Like yeah, it's really cool after a touchdown or a turnover, but when we're down 10 points and we get one first down I think it just sounds stale.

Just my opinion though.

Seven Nation Army chant is hot and of course this is a copy cat league in the stands just like on the field!  lol!  however, imo, I always thought (and still do think this) the Ravens should play Ludacris' song; "Number One Spot".  after all, isn't that what the Ravens and all other 31 teams are playing for?  That "Number One Spot....Super Bowl Champions!"  I believe the beat would reverberate through M&T Bank and THEN...we can say we had it first!

Things are getting a bit stale at the stadium.

Even the 'chains' motion is getting old and I see a lot less people doing it.

I'll be honest though.  It could be the team on the field putting us to sleep for the first 3 quarters, too.  :P

Much like you said, That could be because our offense is a bit stale and not too exciting to watch these days(hopefully this changes after the bye). And also the fact that we aren't moving the chains like were supposed to be doing. That chant was always a little tame as I recall anyhow.

How could we attempt to start a new and original (throughout every sport and team) chant?

If I remember correctly, Didn't Micky from 98 rock coordinate the "No means no" chant when we played the Steelers after Big Bens rape allegations?

I like the chant but now that several other teams are doing it, I'd like to see us get something original we can call our own.

Not a chance.  Not only is this song not good, but you want something that is catchy, uplifting, has a short but good hook.

What about this song, other than the title, is there to catch on to?  I like some luda songs...but this is no anthem by any stretch.  Plus it would be good to have something a little classier

I highly disagree!  I'm talking about the stadium playing the instrumental to this cut brah! smh!

this Luda tune is catchy, hip and the beat is bumping!  and the theme..."Number One Spot!" says it all!  this would be a great anthem!  the instrumental beats are classy and while the music (instrumental) plays for a few minutes...then the fans in M&T Bank can catch onto a specific piece of the hook; "Don't slip up or get got!  I'm coming for that number one spot!....Keep it going and don't stop....I'm coming for that number on spot!"  Maybe these words can be on the jumbo tron with a little bouncing ball on top of them?  imo, I even believe that this would even get our players adrenaline pumping and inspire them to wreck havoc on their opponents.  maaan!  this cut is hot!  LOL!!

As Ray Ray would say, "Bottom-line is.....". Bottom-line is that if the music that would be used as inspiration is not a hook or loop that is super-simple and catchy, it will never work in a football environment. Too big. What you propose could work, but it is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY too long.

This would work thou: "Keep it going, don't stop....I'm coming for that number one spot!, "Keep it going, don't stop....I'm coming for that number one spot!""Keep it going, don't stop....I'm coming for that number one spot!"... and simplify the instrumentals or eliminate them. Then end the last chant with a simple declaration like, "WIN RAVENS!" I couldn't think of something less cheesy, but remember, cheesy works with the masses.

Edit: as I think "Go RAVENS!" would work perfect... So here you go, "Keep it going, don't stop....I'm coming for that number one spot!... Keep it going, don't stop - I'm coming for that number one spot!... Keep it going, don't stop - I'm coming for that number one spot!"......... Go... RAY-VENS!"

This could be a chant during long offensive drives at timeouts.

thanks for your input and i'm pretty sure the guys in the booth can shorten any song or even pull out just a few minutes of it so that the hook can be sang or said by the fans!  I don't care what anybody says...this song is hot and would make a slammin' anthem for ours or any other team!  it's out of the box thinking!  i'd love to see NBA teams use it too!

I'm personally okay with losing the chant as long as we replace it with something else you can sing along to. Maybe the YMCA song. I like being involved.

yeah, the chant was played out before it became "our" chant.   I honestly can't stand any of the generic stadium music they play.   If independently owned, why can't they pipe in different music per stadium?  Why is there the same kick off music for every team everywhere you go, etc etc?   Its lame as hell, just like the 7 Nation chant

agreed!  and I noticed that a few cats negged my Ludacris "Number One Spot" chant suggestion.  get real!  LOL!!

Good thing it was written tongue-in-cheek and not a serious desire.

Still hate how every team under the sun has ran with this chant. European Soccer matches, Michigan Wolverine home games, and Ravens home games should've been the only places this chant is acceptable. Totally swagger jacked by a bunch of NFL teams smh

Let's be real: the chant doesn't influence the outcome of the game, so does it really matter who "owns" it?

We have so many other things to take pride in, that we can readily claim as our own. Y'know, such as last year's Super Bowl trophy.

Anyone else remember that shiny piece of hardware? Yeah. It's gorgeous. And it's ours and no one else can have it.

So, there.
