How did the refs react to it??

I really want paying attention to them.  There really is nothing they could do.

It's not so bad at the games, it's everywhere else.  Walking down the street, on the Light Rail, on the news, fans calling into the radio stations even lol.

Gotchya. I'm not around it enough to know though, since I currently live in East Tn (not for long though!! Will be back in MD at the end of the year!)

True. But the human element of them probably made them at least a little embarrassed.

According to Mike Tirico, every NFL team has an official chant of their own.  Some are more famous than others (Jets, Eagles, etc.).  I don't even know the Ravens "official" chant.  Anyone else know it?

That's probably the fight songs:

http://www.footballbabble.com/football/nfl/fight-songs/

Though we adopted a newer fight song than what's listed for us:

Baltimore Ravens Lets go
And put that ball across the line
So fly on with talons spread wide
Go in and strike with Ravens pride
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
Ravens dark wings take to flight
Dive in and show them your might
For Baltimore and Maryland
You will fly on to victory

I'm personally okay with losing the chant as long as we replace it with something else you can sing along to. Maybe the YMCA song. I like being involved.[/quote]

How about "Bohemian Rhapsody" in its entirety?

The BS Chant was amazing to watch at home. We went to and came back out of commercial and it was still going. Awesome!

At one point the only places I ever heard the 7 Nation Army Chant were European soccer matches, Ravens home games and Michigan Wolverine home games. Was embarrassed for the Heat fans doing it during the finals.. just got really sad how EVERYONE does it now. Ravens fans obviously didn't come up with the chant but as far as NFL teams go it was our thing.. Just like how it is for Michigan in college football. Even with that said I still support doing the chant at home games, it's about getting the energy level up in the stadium and getting people into the game.

this.

we didn't start this, not in sports, not even in football period. its always been a soccer stadium song, and Michigan was the first football stadium to chant this on a regular basis, but the ravens are the first NFL franchise to do it. and yeah I was embarrassed and pretty upset and annoyed to see the heat chanting it

I'll be using the bathroom and some drunk guy wants to start the chant in there.

I'm sorry........just kind of sticks in your head. you know?  :lol3:

The army is worn out and overused.  I can't think of a suitable replacement, but I'd like to hear Back in Black next week as our boys storm out of the tunnel wearing the all black unis. Let's make the home opener a statement game that we are back and ready to kick some butt!

I think everyone can agree on this. Can you imagine if everyone in the crowd just started singing, "Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?..." How awesome!

"Galileo"

"Galileo"

Bouncing back and forth between opposing sides of the stadium.

I've always thought it would sound intimidating to have 70,000 people making "CAWWW" noises.  Imagine the sound of that angry flock of birds.

Seriously? You want 70K people making crow sounds? God...that would be 10x worse than us even making fun of Steelers fans whipping yellow dish towels over their heads. How is a black bird even intimidating?
And the whole 7 Nation Army was way over done way before we even started it by NCAAF. They had been doing it for a decade before we 'invented it'.

no chants.  don't want to give the offense another excuse as to why they aren't getting it done.  remain quiet until they give us something to cheer about!  yep, even when the Ravens are on defense... which is when the offense will be trying to plan their next series.  don't want to interrupt that either.

Hey guys,

I don't really have a suggestion I just wanted to say Ravens don't say 'CAW' so you can hopefully scratch that out. Crows say CAW, Ravens vocalization is most commonly spelled out as Gronk-Gronk or a Croak sound.

edit: and please don't start chanting Gronk at games :P

I love absolutely everything music wise, except classical and country. But anyways, back on topic now after that brief off-topic stint lol. Sorry.

I love it when mini topics are born from the main ones in the blog posts, lol #randomthoughts

yeah, the chant was played out before it became "our" chant.   I honestly can't stand any of the generic stadium music they play.   If independently owned, why can't they pipe in different music per stadium?  Why is there the same kick off music for every team everywhere you go, etc etc?   Its lame as hell, just like the 7 Nation chant

No not at all but thank you for playing.

If you read back a few posts you will see I called it an Epic moment.

That said I have been taking my daughter to games since she was ten.  I tell her when it comes to cussing there is a time and a place for every thing.   I dont think chanting BS on every bad call shows even the slightest bit of class.

If there is any thing I appreciate about the RAVENS is that it is a classy organization.
I like the fact that I can take my daughter to games and feel confidant that 90% of the fans will make it a safe and fun place to be.

Well folks, the Seven Nation Army chant that Chris Carr encouraged us to start a few years ago has officially been adopted by every other team known to man. What do you say we try to bring something new and creative to our gameday experiences at The Bank? I've always thought it would sound intimidating to have 70,000 people making "CAWWW" noises. Imagine the sound of that angry flock of birds.

What chants would you like to see used at The Bank?

Reminds me of an always sunny in philadelphia episode...birds of war lol

No shame in that. The first 20,000 curse words I ever heard were at my first Philadelphia Flyers game when I was 6. I was hooked.

The only other chant in a song I think would be cool for a stadium is the chant from the song 'Can't Hold Us'.

How bout " Cant Touch This "  By M.C Hammer

And play it everytime the Ball is thrown to Dallas Clark.  Maybe that will motivate him to catch the ball. Heck wear some gloves, the material made with them is pretty much Stick'em from the 70s

Since we are on this subject, if I may.

The " Manure Chant " when the original happened, it was unquestionably epic.  It was also unquestionably WELL deserved.

It fit the moment.  I was there.

That said, I have seen other times fans have tried to "recreate" that moment.  Every one has been far less deserving.

What I am saying Baltimore, is this, let it go.  Show some class.

I was watching at home the night it happened, and I about died laughing at hearing it leak out over the NBC feed because there was really nothing they could do about that unless they muted all of their microphones.  One of my friends reported that you could hear it in the Inner Harbor, we got that loud.

That being said, I agree it does not need to be re-created every time a call does not go our way.

I just love the fact that our 12th man gets loud when the visitors offense is on the field.  We don't need a chant for that, we just need to make sure to get loud and stay loud, especially on 3rd down for them.

I don't think you can beat how European football clubs have songs that every fan knows.

We should create some short songs and post the lyrics on this site.

A gem I heard when Adebayor (sp?) used to play for Man City: "Ade-ba-yoooor, Ade-ba-yoooor... your father washes elephants, and your mother is a............"

I think you can use your imagination to fill in the mother part, but still having chants for individual players for our rivals is brilliant. Short songs or chants for our squad that everyone in the stadium either knows or can learn quickly after 1 or 2 renditions I think would be awesome.

"Plllaaaaaay like a Raaaven. Plaaaaaay like a Raaaven.

All the dogs in the house go.... woof woof woof

All the dogs in the house go... woof woof woof.

Plaaaaaaay like a Raaaaven. Plaaaaaay like a Raaaven."

Whatever, not great I know but only took 2 seconds to come up with. Simple, easy to learn, and you could easily get the entire stadium to sing it loud.

"Not a yard, not a yard

Its 3rd down, its not real hard

cuz we wont give a yard....

Not a foot, not a foot

Its 3rd down, its been well put

that we wont give a foot....

Not an inch, not an inch

Its 3rd down, theyre in a pinch

cuz we wont give an inch!"
