Team shopping for WRs?

Aaron Wilson from Ravens Insider said we're looking at other positions as well.

We need a TE more than a receiver imo. Or a new C.

Even Dickson's great catch in the SB was bobbled.

Hindsight is 20/20... I don't want to disappoint but this doesn't mean you're right. It just means we have an injured WR. You need to calm down with the delusions of grandeur.

He had to be joking.

We need Thompson healthy. If he can play next week than I think we're good enough at WR. If he's still a couple of weeks away than that's a different story.

Wonder if we could trade for a guy like Jeremy Kerley.

I would be stunned if that happened. The Jets have a worse situation than we do right now.

Well of course we would shop around, our wrs were already thin and now we lose our "number 2" guy.

then lets bring in two wr's for a tryout and sign one

I don't get what makes people comfortable about WR at all. Both WR & TE are positions of need.

Whatever the case is all we need is someone who can run & catch. Nobody in FA is an upgrade IMO. Whether that's TE or WR....both are question marks.

Brown looked good but he's still unproven. Jones is hurt. Stokely is 80. Mellete isn't ready. Clark is 79. And Dickson doesn't have any thumbs.

Because there's at least hope for some of the receivers.

There's no hope for Grandpappy Clark or Edward Scissorhands Dickson.

Yeah, WR is a weakness, but there's no way to fix it right now. Nobody in FA is better than what we have already, and any trade is unlikely.

I'd rather see Mellette and Brown get thrown into the fire and watch them work.

clark at least puts himself in position. dickson cant even do that.

a lot of good being in position does if you can't even catch it when it falls in your hands

Honestly people are going to think I'm crazy but I'd rather stand pat and give the guys we have as much of a chance as possible.  Now we may have to sign someone to take Jacoby's spot for now, but I'd rather ride it out, see what happens.  The bottom line is the FO gambled on trading Q, and right now with Dennis out it looks like they lost.  They also basically avoided the offense during the entire draft in favor of fixing the defense.  That's fine, but now we see the lack of sure-handed receivers might have cost us at least one game.  So I'd rather force the issue with the guys we have hoping the front office will bite the bullet and draft a receiver and/or tight end early (first 3 rounds) next year.  And I think Kerley is a pipe-dream - he was seriously the Jets' only good receiver for most of last year, especially with Santonio down.  I don't know what we'd have to give up to pry a starting receiver from the Jets, but I think it will be too much.

There isn't a lot on the free agent market, although I'd be somewhat excited if we called up Todd Heap and he accepted - he hasn't played since 2011, so he should be somewhat fresh, and I don't see how he could be worse than Dallas Clark at this point.  Kevin Boss is out there, but he's had a ton of concussions, and I don't want to touch a guy like Jeremy Shockey.

I don't think we'll make a move before the end of week 2.

I disagree. I don't think we'll trade for one, but we need a returner. Webb/Pierce doing returns is too risky.

i think Gino is alright...for 1st quarter.   Then his motor dropped off and he stopped pushing holes for rice/pierce and getting decked by DTs all night.

Yeah that's what I meant. I can't see us trading for anybody before that

Center? If we have to get a center, then we better beg Birk back out of retirement. Otherwise stay pat!

With regards to WR, yes. With regard to TE absolutely and a resounding yes! We have Dickson who can't catch a cold, and then we have Dallas who can barely catch a cold. We definitely need a good TE now!

Ohh ok. lol.

Off topic, but whats with the talk of wanting a new center? One game, and people are done with Gino? Smh.

Here's an interesting question. Do we actually have a legitimate #1WR in Torrey Smith? Is he capable of surpassing that 1000 yards receiving threshold? I dunno. He doesn't come of as a consistent enough threat and he doesn't seem to even compare to the likes of Dez Brant or Andre Johnson, non of whom has a particularly great QB.
