The Head Coach is the Leader

48 posts in this topic

This team has been led by players since it began. We all know who.

Now, they are gone. It is time to realize that Kyle Juszczyk is the leader, he can do it all.

No, not really. Harbs is being paid franchise coach money. I know what his record is, and it is excellant.  Every head coach in the league would love to have his record. But, that is in the past.

Please do not ask where the leadership is coming from. At $6 million a season, you should know who is in charge. Here, it has always been our Great Front Office (GFO), or the on field talent.

Harbs is up there will Belicheat and the rest of the elite NFL coaches, salary and record wise.

It is his baby from here on out.

We lost 1 game. We have not suddenly become the Oakland Raiders.

John is a great Head Coach, he's proved that time and again. We're in good hands with him as our HC.

I disagree with Harbs a lot.  He is a good coach.  He knows how to get the team ready to play a game.  He is well spoken in press conferences.  His record speaks for itself.

The one thing that I can't stand;

It seems like he got rid of every player that would ever challenge his authority.  You are always going to have to deal with opinionated players.  If you are a coach.  If you are a manager then its insubordination and you're fired, in this case (traded).

Now you have a bunch of yes men on the team.  How are we looking so far?

Harbs is a team manager that does his job pretty well.  I however don't like him.

Its Harbs "Team" but he will never be the leader of it cause the players dont play for him.

the extension should have waited a year. he still had 2 yrs left on his deal and I want to see how he leads this team without Ray and Ed to lean on.

I disagree.  I think you need to reward the coach that just won the championship.  It isn't like he can't get fired at any point, anyway.  I like the timing.

Go tell Suggs and Rice that they are yes men and see how hard they laugh. Then Joe that when he has told Harbs to get of his back in the middle of a game. Sure all our team is yes men who do not think for themselves. You do not have to like Harbs but he is the head coach and makes some good decisions. He is not perfect (I am not sure any human is) but he will work hard to give us the best team he can. I think it will be good enough to make it to the playoffs. From there anything can happen.

We can't believe everything we hear in the media..

Pretty sure Sizzle, Flacco, Rice, Leach.. are no "yes men".. I remember when everyone thought Harbs had beef with Leach when he tested the market and he came back.. you can't trust the media.. especially when you support the Ravens.

And we're 0-1.. and have yet to unleash the likes of Elam and Art Brown. We have an injured Pitta, Oher, Jacoby, Art Jones.. gotta give it time guys,

Maybe you do not realize that the HC does not do the hiring and firing. Certainly he can make suggestions and often those suggestions are followed (as in Cam) but it is on Ozzie to run that part of the show. I doubt that Ozzie is Harbs yes man. He will keep or remove any player he wants based upon need and money. All these tough outspoken guys that were removed either left of their own accord or priced themselves out, or were head cases (in the case of Pollard)

Couldn't agree more.  It's okay to argue with your players.  It's not okay if the run all over top of you.  But a healthy argument from the guys playing the game is not always a bad thing.

He doesn't like to be challenged, we can see that in the pressers.

He had better get some players in here that can communicate with the coaches what's going on on the field.  Otherwise that same situation with Graham and the challenge flag will happen all season.

There is a fine line between being opinionated (which is good, and welcomed) and challenging his authority (which is unacceptable). If you dont respect him, you dont need to be here.

I have never heard one story of Suggs,Rice or Flacco getting into it with Harbs. But yes they are coaches type of players.  They never challenge anything that the coaches tell them.

They are the ideal teammates.  This is why I don't think of Suggs as a leader.  Sometimes you have to go against the grain to get the job done. Oh how I miss Ed Reed for throwing players under the bus but using tact to do it.

I couldn't explain the inexplicable purges of Top Performers still under Contract.

These threads have begun to have it all make some "sense".  It's becoming ever more clear that Raven Management credits Themselves for the Run they've been on. How else could they jettison valuable players and expect to pick up where they left off?

The Just Desserts are about to be served.

Okay I can agree with this.  The only real problem i have with the offseason moves was Reed and Boldin.  Boldin (probably) got released because of his body language when he is missed by Flacco on passes.  He wasn't afraid to show his emotion on the field.  I love the rowdy guys.  Now we have a team full of --------not rowdy guys , other than Jacoby.  We have lost all identity on offense. Boldin was the man on offense.

I'm sure they all respect him.  If not they probably wouldn't sign here.  Boldin was the type of personality that would probably speak his mind and he wouldn't care if the coach liked it or not. But when it came to doing his job, he did it and did it well.

I promise you this,  You will never win in this league without one Rowdy guy on your team.

I feel like some of our fans have been spoiled with our year-to-year success and forget that in the last five-years we've made the playoffs -- we had losses then too.  Harbs was a part of that success and he'll be part of it again this year.

Had nothing to do with a $6M+ contract and vet minimum production to show for it?

You beat me too it.  He wasn't released because of his 'body language'.

You make it sound like Boldin was a force in the regular season.  He was good but was ineffective in many games.  You are putting him on a pedestal to fuel your hatred towards John while making up theories.

I won't deny that Boldin was a beast in the playoffs for us.  But his price tag was hefty.  I'm guessing that if the Raven's brass knew we'd be without Pitta, Boldin would still be on this team.

Yep. Harbs just hates players with a conscience

I hear John hates kids because they talk back, and he burns Instruction manuals because he doesn't want to be told what to do.  He also clubs seals in his spare time.

I know you are going to hate this comment but ill type it again anyway.

That is why our superman QB should have left money on the books for his help.

I'll bet money if they offered Montatna a huge contract and they told him it might lead to the release of Jerry Rice, he would've taken less.

Now Boldin is no Rice but in Baltimore he was. The proof is on the field.  I knew we would regret that.
