Dean Pees is dying for Jimmy to play press. He flat out said it in a presser to the media.

That was after the Atlanta game.

Yes, then he played press against Carolina and had a very good game. There's an outside chance that he's solved his problem just like that.

On one play vs Denver he was in off coverage and didn't fall for a double-move. That's a good sign too.

I hope but we have said these things about Jimmy since he was drafted. My biggest issue with him is the inconsistency.

Did you know you play with cleats on?

Yeah, that's certainly true, but the cleats sink into the Poly or Turf and you're back to your actual size and 5 foot 8 and 3/4 inches is too small for an effective Safety especially when he plays like Professor Smith in the Television Series, "Lost in Space".

Sergio Kindell

Courtney Upshaw

Want to see a real prospect. Check out the game tape on Eric Reid over at San Francisco. That's a Safety with Potential.  The Niners are cleaning our clock when it comes to personnel.

Oh yeah, Eric Reid is great.

He was also off the board...

Serious question, how old are you?

Off whose Board?

If Eric Reid wasn't the Top Safety on the Raven Board, that's consistent with my overall point that we've not evaluated talent accurately lately.  Either our in house talent or prospective talent through the draft.  And that may be a product of age or advancing age. How else can you explain these current lapses???

Eric Reid wasn't the top safety on any board I saw.

He was the 16th pick in the draft.

Off

The

Board

He had been picked before we drafted

You know who else is good?

Patrick Peterson

The fifth pick in that years draft.

You're absolutely right. I had him even below Shark thomas who pittsburgh drafted. Everyone is going to overeact to one game.

Pretty sure the consensus top safety was Vaccaro who was drafted by New Orleans.

That's a little bit unfair.  Reid has played very well all preseason and played well in Sundays game.  Looks like a good player.  Had a really good sophomore season at LSU.  But in his infinite wisdom he's mad we didn't take a player who got drafted 16 picks before us.

Yeah but is his play enough to just completely make the player we took in the first round a bust; hell freaking no. Seems he doesnt know how the draft works.

We drafted at pick 32.  Eric Reid was taken at pick 18.  And to do it San Fran gave up their 3rd rounder - so you're advocating giving up both Elam and Brandon Williams for Eric Reid.  For all we know we could have had Eric Reid rated higher than Elam.  I'm pretty sure we had Luke Joekel ranked higher than Elam also.

Yes, he was rated as low as the 4th best safety and the Niners moved up to snag him and he's playing very well.  They are making all the right moves.

We selected Matt Elam and he can't break into the starting group.

Its not just Matt Elam though. Our First Round picks have not dazzled for a number of years.

Seriously?  There's no way you're a fan of this team.  It's all doom and gloom with you.  You seem to forget that we've been a perennial playoff contender.  But hey, one bad game must mean that the FO is losing grip and a change must be made, right?

Dude,

it's a game.

but agreed, the drafting has been subpar.  But it's hard to fault Ozzie for Sergio.  Dude broke his skull, it's just a freak accident. But his first OTA before the accident he could really get after it, looked like a good pick.

EDIT: really the only bad pick is Jimmy Smith.

But it's not as bad as AJ jenkins.

Drafted by the 49ers.

Who are just the best thing since sliced bread.

You're also forgetting the Niners had a bounty of extra draft picks they got to play with - I think they had 13 picks, so of course they could afford to burn several to target players they wanted.  We had only 11 picks, and 4 of them were non-tradeable comps.

I'll have to ask Tavon Austin what he thinks. Didnt you hear? If a Rook cant start by week one then they are a bust. Therefore Torrey Smith=Bust....... :eyes:

Actually I think word on him from Raiders' camp was he was a solid coverage guy but always trying to arm tackle and whiffing as we saw last night.

Really?  Because I remember when we signed him they did a comparison of how many missed tackles he had compared to Ed over the last few seasons, and Huff came out very favorably.  That was my impression.

I'm pretty confident he's a 9ers fans, trolling because his team lost the SB to us.

I'm like 90% sure of that too.  But in his defense Eric Reid looks like a really impactful player for them.  He had almost no negative elements in that game.
