he had an injury. anyway i just dont see elam having the same impact as he did in college. its not about his size, he doesnt possess high football iq. it whas the same with jimmy smith. troy polomalu didnt have great size but you could see in college his iq for the game is off the charts. i think we focus too much on speed rather then iq these days.

The obesession w/ Omar Brown on these boards blows my mind

Every season, there's always some unproven player that everyone here gushes over. Ie Furstenburg.

Coconut, I'm the biggest Raven Fan in the history of the Ravens.

But, I'm not going to turn a blind eye to mismanagement and malfeasance. That's not my gig.

A fish rots from the Head down. Our management got too full of themselves and thought "they" were the difference. That's the problem and it's being revealed before our eyes.

I don't know what they were thinking, but Anquan Boldin was as big a piece of the championship as others they overpaid. I think we paid Flacco 5-6 million too much.

There's no sense getting too excited until after the Browns game. You'll be in a better position to evaluate what I've been saying since Boldin's trade after that game.

First off... It's week 1... Comparing our Org to a rotting fish, may be a cool little visual but its not even close to being true. Secondly, Im pretty sure you're not the "Biggest fan in Ravens history"... This makes you sound foolish. Boldin was a piece of our championship, as was Flacco. Flacoo will be apart of our next Championship too, Boldin will not be. Once you win a title, you're building for the next, Its pretty obvious thats what we're trying to do. You might want to turn off the thesarus and the cool little jargon and realize that its a process.

Matt Elam is 5'10" which is the same size as Earl Thomas, one of the best safeties in the game.

Did you know you're measuring him with his cleats on.

As dumb as you sound now, this is going to be 10x funnier when we make the playoffs again this season. I'll be more than happy to lay the blame on our arrogant front office for that.

going to be honest here, i dont think elam is going to be anything more but at best solid. i know ou guys knock polard but i thik thats his overall potential. not going to make bro bowls but a solid starter. ozzie is having a dry patch. i admit i preffered cyprian over elam.

Are you basing this on anything or talking out your arse?

Can you just stop posting altogether? It would just improve this entire forum if you did. Our management has always deferred credit and glory to the players saying it was about their "execution." Rotting? We just won a superbowl and have been to the playoffs the last 5 years. We have a good enough team to make the playoffs this year too, and if Pitta comes back healthy: make a push during the playoffs for a repeat.

You demonstrated your ignorance of the NFL right when you said Flacco got paid 5-6 million too much. Knock 5-6 million off of Joe's salary. It still wouldn't count against the cap. The majority of Flacco's contract was backloaded. Flacco's contract only counted 1 million against the cap in 2013. Flacco could have earned a MUCH smaller contract and we wouldn't have been able to keep anybody.

Yeah, after the Browns game...Matt Elam looked pretty good in the preseason. Dig has looked good and made plays too.

just a hunch. elam will be a solidstarter but i dont ever see him being elite.

Again....what are you basing this on?

And for the record, Elam looked good against Denver the brief time he was in. When they brought Huff back in to replace Elam he immediately gave up a TD.

eye test. from his gator days to preseason. when we drafted ed reed i emphaticaly said...we just drafted a future hall of famer..when we drafted jimmy smith i said..we drafted an athletic knucklehead. our entire 2004 draft i called a flop and i was right.

i just dont see a high ceiling for elam.

I'm sure you immediately knew Ed was a HoFer.

And for the record, I don't think Jimmy it's bad, Pees just never uses him correctly. He needs to be in press man, not that stupid off man coverage he loves.

ed was there before the pass left the qbs arm.. elam is there when the wr or te catches it. elam is going to be a solid pro. but hes no pro owler in the making.

Michael Huff had a difficult Ravens debut.  Huff was party to both of the TDs to Julius Thomas and was unable to evade Clady on Thomas’ 78-yard catch and run for the Broncos final score. He started and played every snap for 3 quarters before being pulled for Matt Elam.  He returned for the game’s last 4 defensive snaps beginning with Thomas’ long TD catch and run.

___

The TD was on Huff.

Why are we judging a rookie on one game?

I mean seriously, how long have some of you been watching football?  Clearly a lot of people don't realize you shouldn't judge a rookie based on preseason and a game.

i had an argue, ent with another raven fan. i said we should give upour 1st and 3rd round pick for a stab at patrick peterson while idiots where saying jimmy smith was just as good. i notice fluidity in players ed reed had it same with pp. i dont see it with elam. oh snap we resigned the gret drft pick tandon doss again

To be fair, we would need to give up a 1st, 1st and 2nd for peterson.

The eye test is all powerful and all knowing.

Yeah, he's had some ups and downs.  Remember that Torrey Smith kid?

What a bust.

Dean Pees is dying for Jimmy to play press. He flat out said it in a presser to the media.

I don’t think he played particularly good the other night, and I think he tried … He’s got a technique [that] he’s got to use, and he didn’t use it the other night. He’s got a distinct advantage in a way that he can play, and he didn’t necessarily play that way last week, and I think he will [this week]. And I think he’ll learn from that.

That was after the Atlanta game.

Remember how bad he looked his first 2 games in the NFL?  He didn't catch a pass, and then he became a much better player.

I love how you're judging a player after one nfl game and I'm exaggerating.
