Don't know if it was posted here yet, but I just got a notice from my NFL Mobile app that Elam has been promoted to starter over Huff.

That was quick.

my evaluations have been good. but if elam proves me wrong ill be delighted.

i'm confused in another thread about Marlon brown you say its too soon everyone should calm down . in this thread after one game you are saying elam is no good . so which is it? or are you just saying the opposite of whatever the thread contributors are saying ?

marlon looks promising. but lets get level headed here, however i do believe he has great potential, more then elam. elam was my 5 th ranked saftey in the draft. i had vaccaro, reid, dj swearinger and cyperian ahead of him.

right from 1998 onwards

guys i raved about

cmac

jamal lewis

suggs

ed reed

ngata

grubbs

yanda

guys i raved about and was wrong. they werent bad but fell below my expectations.

oher

chester

on the fence and was wrong they did good

heap

rice

flacco

webb

torrey smith

guys who i feel were overrated and was right. still saw them as solid if nothing else.

clayton

upshaw

elam (how i see him)

jimmy smith

travis taylor

guys who i knew would be busts

the entire 2004 draft. i remember getting drunk afterwards such was my anger

sergio kindle

dan cody

guys  who i thought we stole and was right

adalius thomas

jarrett johnson

And again, your calling someone who has only played in basically ONE FULL REGULAR SEASON GAME, overrated already. Your not even giving the man a chance to prove himself and your already calling him overrated. I wouldn't even say Upshaw is overrated yet, considering how little playing time he has had. He has come up with some great plays for us (the one including the SB). I do agree with Clayton, and at the moment Jimmy Smith...

whats to say your not chatting out of your butt. For example I have threads and comments on here to back up that I thought upshaw was a second round talent and still believe we could have got him were we took KO to this day. I also have posts saying I preferred cyp to Elam, or Arthur brown to teo. And to throw a total random one at you fly made a thread that we should draft pierce and low and behold we did. Thats just my own personal examples and one that always sticks out because it was so left field.

No one is going to believe a word you say unless you can back it up

Too true. If you can't back it up, no point in talking.

Might be nice to give Elam a chance one game means nothing its not like you can learn everything about the defense in one game .I see promise there but using Ed Reed or even Pollard as a measuring stick is so unfair its criminal.

Not to mention he's a rookie and still is getting a grasp of the playbook. That was apparent in the recent behind the bench video when Teryl Austin was coaching the DBs after the big play to Cameron. I wont compare him to either of those guys, I just let him play and see how it turns out.

Even myself who wasn't a big fan of taking him, although I loved his tenacity and aggression, still isn't ruling anything out. He could be great, he may not

I agree, however, for some people to already claim he is a bust or that he wont live up to his draft pick is idiotic. He's only played one game and showed tremendous promise in the pre season.

I will be honest once I knew reed was leaving I wanted Cyprien after we drafted Elam I watched highlights everything  I could find . This kid can lay a hit and he can ball . Nice to see some level headed fans who are willing to give him a chance . He made a mistake he will do better .

Rock on.   Oddly enough the official Ravens site app (cough cough) did not send me anything and I have push alerts set up there too.

Thanks!

Reid's anticipation was so good last night he managed to trip Tate so he could pick off an uncontested pass. Then he killed himself making a routine tackle. When Elam picks off a pass thrown right to him with no one around that better be great anticipation for Elam.

Elam absolutely has a nose for the ball, I don't know what kid you were watching at Florida.

I have no clue who he was watching either. Elam's instincts are what sets him apart and got him drafted in the first round. Dare I say, he reminds me so much of Polamalu

I thought of Troy when I watched him as well. He made plays everywhere. The plays he would make around the LOS were very Troy like.

Seriously, HOW are you not employed as a GM or at least scout by an NFL team?? Boggles me. You're like the next Jerry Jones.

I don't think he's got quite the wheels of Furball.  Elam is fast, but I think Polamalu was a step faster and a little bigger.

The recent discussion on this thread is absolutely ridiculous lol. I mean seriously Like some have stated we are 2 weeks into the NFL season.. And most important most rookies don't come in and look amazing at first i mean seriously where do you think all these players that come out of no where come from? They are developed! Some talent doesn't shine right away. This guy wasn't even a top 16 pick and even if he was i would still state what i just did. Give the guy some time come cry to here 2 years from now if it doesn't work out. Some of you really make me question how much you know about football sometimes...

Speed wise I honestly don't know. Troy's speed coming down on the line of scrimmage is just unreal. That being said, that play Elam made against Tavon Austin was pretty impressive.

Hasn't Cyprien greatly struggled?

Hasn't Cyprien greatly struggled?

Yeah, from what I've heard from Jags fans on another forum he hasn't really lived up to expectations. He's made some good tackles downfield but struggled mightily in coverage. Granted, some Jags fans set the bar way too high.
