Matt Elam

Maybe, just maybe, Elam has only three tackles so far because he's been great in coverage and our front seven has been dominant against the run. Elam hasn't even been in position to make tackles because he hasn't allowed a ton of completions, and our front seven has the running back taken care of.

elam has been non existant. vaccaro and reid have been great. taking into consideration ozzie was so s high on am where he ranke him as the 16th best player in the whole draft he would have probably seleted him over vaccaro or  reid if they were all on the board..ozzie isnt perfect. as i said to everyone elam doesnt have great anticipation. that and his small stature is a no no to me. he is basicaly a mini pollard. doesnt hitquite as hard though.

They were also instant guaranteed starters. This is Baltimore. We don't play that.

If Elam is given a couple games I bet he makes Reid and Vaccaro look sick . It's been two games even Ed Reed took time to adjust . Maybe lower expectations a tad .....like half a season before judging. as for trolls I can't get that whole concept of going to another fan site and causing problems I would get it if the person is 12 but not adults.

Whats interesting is that Elam played most of his pre season as free safety. Perhaps they may have wanted him to replace Huff and not Ihedigbo.

Maybe. Although, the league is shifting to needing two balanced safeties that can cover and play the run. In today's NFL, whether or not a player is a free safety or a strong safety is irrelevant. What matters is having a smart, athletic safety that can tackle. Ya know what I mean?

What's good is that Elam is that balanced safety capable of being used in coverage and run support.

Elam's been fine and will only get better... let's lighten up the expectations a little bit, guys and gals. He is taking over for a living legend after all...

He's already passed Reed's standards for making tackles... Meaning he doesn't miss them.

i hope i am too but sorry...elam will be a solid pro. nothing more. ed reed was one of only 4  draft picks we  have had where i said we had  sure thing.

Why does your (mediocre) track record of projecting a player's future talent matter?

And what basis do you have to think that?  You very well could be right, but you're providing no basis other than "I think."

And where did you get this insider info that makes you so sure? Are you friends with someone high In the evaluations or something?

The season is only 2 games in. You know nothing more than anyone else here as to how the Raven's rookies will progress. Elam could turn into a bust, or he could turn into the next Ed Reed. Its up to Elam as to who he wants to be and how he plays. Perfect example, not many people heard about Marlon Brown, and many were not expecting him to make a big impact, yet he came out of nowhere. Point being and what I already stated, is we don't know how any players will develop.

Out of curiosity, who have you been right about? Have you ever been wrong before and about who?

yeah. i think ozzies best work was in the late 90's .

lets see post 2003

ngata elite
grubbs elite
yanda elite
rice v good
flacco good
webb elite
pitta good
torrey good

the rest havent met expectations.

That's a lot more hits than most teams have. Every player you draft isn't going to pan out into a star player. Actually, most of them won't.

Sadly, your evaluations could be spot on but nobody here cares because there's no track record for us to go by on your record. It's all based off of what you claim. I can claim that I knew Ray Lewis was going to be a future hall of fame player and the best there ever was but if there's no proof nobody cares.

I'm good with "solid". We're not going to have a Pro Bowler at every position. The salary cap won't allow it. "Solid" players win games.
