It's funny how you guys are acting like Doss left, went somewhere to buy some skills & now he's back better then ever lol.

You mean cheap skills. We only had $.35 left in cap expenditures to buy skills.

You mean it's not true that he went to BJ's and picked up a big set of hands? And on the way back he didn't stop at Chris Carter's house to learn how to run routes?

C'mon Man! Folks are just trying to stay positive and hope for the best for Tandon.

Do we still control his rights for next year? His rookie deal was for 4 years and this would be only his 3rd. Or was that deal scrapped when we cut him in which case he's playing out a 1 year contract? Does anybody know? I'm curious in case he does do something this year.

That rookie contract is void when he got cut.

Doss knows he will be cut any time and any day so he either works hard on his hands and route running or be on the street.  At least Ravens let him test the market and he knows how valuable he is.......

PS: He better not drop balls as KR or PR.....

they worked him out and he wasnt signed.

hmmmm  you right but does that  truly mean he didn't impress?  I honestly dont know if he did or not but definately has that one more chance to impress for the ravens against the browns

Sometimes when you cut a guy who has potential but needs to get his attitude and mind right those players improve because that was the judge they needed to wake up. It's happened before. An obvious example is Harrison.

A lot in this league WISH that they had the physical tools and skillset that Doss possesses. Unfortunately, those guys don't make the mental mistakes, and have a ton of confidence. Tandon is probably the most physically gifted receiver on this team, he just has NEVER shown it.

Well when the other names being thrown around are Randy Moss, T.O., Chad Johnson, and Laurent Robinson, Doss starts sounding pretty good.  At least he knows the playbook already.

For some reason I don't think we have to worry about that. Him doing something.

Just kidding. I hope for the best. Maybe being cut slapped some sense into him.

Max: He will be gone by week 8 when Asa is back

He has 7weeks to prove he is worth to keep; first step is to hold on to ball and make play as KR or PR.....he has zero chance right now as a WR unless stokley goes down with an injury and Mellette is still on the injured list....

I was excited to see Doss cut, but not for the same reasons as most here. I was excited because his release meant that the coaches were finally real about given guys the opportunity to compete for reps. Doss gone meant Brown and Mellette truly outplayed him and draft status nor politics had nothing to do with it.

With that said, i've said even with Doss' struggles this PS that the guy is talent. He just may not ever be a #2WR and that's ok. Doss is the type of WR who will benefit from Caldwell's scheme as well as being the 3rd or 4th option.

I'm not sure that Doss gives you any more then Mellette at this point as a WR, but I definitely want him returning punts and not Webby. I'd still like to see Mellette active.

Doss is gonna do 2 major things for the offense. 1 he's gonna allow us to rotate Stokely in to slot. At 37 Stokely needs to keep fresh legs. The second thing is Doss will allow Caldwell to move Brown inside some to take advantage of his size and strength. Doss will help in these 2 areas even with minimum production. It'll be interesting to see if Caldwell schemes Doss into the offense and just how much confidence Joe has in him.

zero after preseason games....trust is hard to build on and it takes awhile; however, the short cut is whenever Joe throws ball to whoever, that person better catches it regardless, and when Joe needs you to get open, he better gets opened.  It sounds easy but it is a major step for those who want to be successful in the NFL....

I agree , doss was brought back due to his return experience, that prevent injuries to starters like Webb & pierce, now the Browns shouldn't b overlooked, this game might end up being a low scoring affair. Like a 17-9.

I agree with everything except the zero confidence part. Even though Doss and Joe had their issues in the preseason,, I think Joe will still give him the chances to make plays if he's available and I think if Caldwell schemes him into the offense he'll get open. Joe is the type of guy who the open man is his favorite target. Dickson had 4 drops and Joe continued to target him when open. So Joe won't allow what happened in the preseason to impact what happens now.

When I speak of confidence and trust i'm speaking more of those tight windows and timing routes. These two have worked together all through camp and OTAs so I do believe there is definitely a connect there but just how strong is it. We won't know until we see game action

I'm glad that the FO at least brought someone in that is familiar with the playbook. I hope Doss does well in whatever role he's in.

I'm not sure if anyone touched on this but I wonder if this second chance kinda sparks Doss into reaching his potential whatever that may be? Doss has always seemingly been the chosen one. Hand picked by Flacco, exceptional pass catcher, the guy to replace Boldin and he got so much praise from coaches. I wonder if those things kind of went to his head a bit. Where maybe he took the approach that he was already the man and didnt have to go above and beyond to prove it.

Just watching Doss at practice the few times I was fortunate enough to attend practice, Doss seemed to have a nonchalant demeanor about him. Also like things just come so easy to him, which isn't a problem but you have to prove you're the man when it counts. The effortless one handed catches in practice iss great, but a simple two handed catch means just as much in real games.

I just wonder, or maybe it's hope, that this is a wake up call for Doss. Being talented isn't enough. I would love to hear the first exchange between Harbs and TD when he came back. I too hope he does well, because he can definitely help this team. Both in the passing game and on special teams. Him being familiar with the offense is great, but Caldwell being familiar with him is just as important imo.

Exactly how I feel about him. If he had a Torrey work ethic I wonder how different his situation would be.

yeah, the Ravens let him test the market and nobody wants him, so he knows how horrible he is.  He also realizes he can be cut at anytime and anyday. now or never....

Well, it's his time to shine now. Here's hoping he takes the #3 spot from Stokley. Lord knows we need at least a little bit more speed in the slot.

Some of you guys still kill me, I don't know how you can consider yourselves fans when you obviously know SO much about being part of an NFL front office/coaching staff that you're honorary consultants.

Yeaa if he had Torrey's work ethic I think he would be a really solid player. Talent has never been the issue for TD imo, it's just his metal game and his work ethic. It's like Doss will have brief mental lapses that cause him to make mistakes he shouldn't.

Yea, I thought it was interesting he worked out for the Packers because I though that was a great fit for him. I compare him to Jordy Nelson. A guy who can make big plays in a offense but mainly because he's never really the focal point. Solid player, who can make some special plays, but he'll also have some head scratching drops.

Well, it's his time to shine now. Here's hoping he takes the #3 spot from Stokley. Lord knows we need at least a little bit more speed in the slot.

Yea we definitely need more speed and explosion from the slot. I think Stokelyy will be fine but only in small doses. I'm hoping that both Doss and Mellette can provide so help from the slot. Then when JJ and DT get healthy we can add more speed and weapons. Maybe Stokely doesn't remain on the team if the others step up. But Stokely is definitely consistent and has good hands so guys will have to play really well to push him out.
