Update: WR Tandon Doss is back

407 posts in this topic

LOL at "excellent" hands.... yeah, and I am Superman too, they should sign me...

But anyways... If we bring in Doss, I do NOT want him to mess with Brown's progression. I want Brown out on the field. Besides Torrey, he's the only guy on our whole offense who made any kind of noise.

He does have excellent hands, but he wouldnt be brought in to be the #2 WR or anything. Mostly to return punts and be another option out of the slot instead of Stokley.

I can't believe I'm saying this.

But ultimately, we don't have a returner right now, and Stokley looks slow. SLOW.

Do we bring him back? He's not great either, but with Jones out, Mellette being raw, and Stokley being slower than a tortoise, he might be the best option.

Thoughts?

Hell. No. I don't want Webb back there either though. Sucks we couldn't stash Rainey and that Deonte isn't healthy

Guys with excellent hands don't get cut. Especially slot guys. His reputation is that he had great hands in college. He can't handle an NFL qbs armstrength

Disagree. Webb should not be returning punts and another slot WR would help a lot considering how slow Stokley looked out there. We already have OL depth and safety depth. Remember our first round pick?

We can't pluck a slot WR out of thin air, the FA pool was depleted enough when we signed Stokley.  Our best hope of improvement in that department is getting Thompson back from injury, the problem of course being that he's historically had hands that could rival our TEs'.

But we definitely need a different returner, our expensive elite corner should never be used for something like that.  He's far to valuable to the team and the risk of injury is far too high.

That's why Doss makes sense. He knows the offense, he plays the slot position, and he returns punts. Even if Deonte is healthy he isnt a PR.

No, if you have excellent hands you don't get cut.

He has inconsistent hands man. Watch a game other than the Chargers game that he was in. Watch the Colts game for instance. Watch the preseason games. He does not have excellent hands. Someone with excellent hands never, ever drops an open pass. That label is only used for the best of receivers, such as Jerry Rice, Calvin Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Cris Carter, etc. He's inconsistent, and that does not equate to excellent. He'd be good depth, yes.

I haven't seen Doss drop one open pass.

You haven't?? I'm gonna let some other people argue this for me. I must be in Mars or something.

Make no mistake, Doss sucks as a receiver. Sucks harder than a Hoover. But we need a backup KR/PR and he's a WR who knows the offense.

Funny, because I just went and checked PFF where they track every single play. Doss has zero drops this preseason and zero drops last postseason. Guess I'm right.

How in the world can you say that?? He dropped a ton of passes against the Colts last year. As a matter of fact, several people said that he dropped at least 2 passes, both of which were in the end zone for a possible TD. Someone with excellent hands never does that.

Is it just me, or did Doss drop several passes against the Colts last year?

Nope. Zero drops. Passes have to be catchable to be considered drops.

I just told you a Completely unbiased company whose only job it us to track every single play charted zero drops for Doss.

Doss clearly dropped some passes. PFF is trash.

LOL I just tried looking for his stats on PFF and I found absolutely nothing regarding a dropped passes category. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot. Possible.

Oh, so we're going to just take your word for it then, right? No bias at play at all... there wasn't an interview with Doss talking about his dropped passes, and there wasn't an article devoted to the dropped passes.

I prefer LQ over Doss...that's probably just me though

i prefer LQ over trawick, thats for sure.. and to think, we cut LQ to give a roster spot to trawick to play special teams.. cut our best ST player, for a guy who runs into jacoby and hurts him.

that was the play jacoby was hurt on correct?

Yeah...I'm making it up lol. Of course he is going to say he should make those catches but neither were drops. They were highlight reel catches if he makes them.

Yup.

But Laquan is injured, I think that's part of why he was cut.
