Update: WR Tandon Doss is back

407 posts in this topic

Boy is a beast at PR.... How did our coaching staff overlook this?

No one overlooked his talent, that's why he lasted as long as he did. It took cutting him and no one picking him up to wake him up. He's now playing with some some passion that wasn't there before. I hope that he continues to improve and become what we all hoped he would be.

I wouldn't be thrilled, but I wouldn't try to bring in a brandon stokley or anything like that again.  I too think we go WR or TE in the draft.  This is going to be an offensive draft I think.

I don't know if we dip in the WR pool. I see line, and TE. We have successfully farmed some young receivers. Marlon Brown has been a great surprise, Torrey is Torrey, Aaron Mallete is being groomed, and now Tandon Doss waking up our recieving core is solid. Honorable mention Deonte Thompson and Jacoby Jones for the foreseeable future.

I did some research to compare Doss and Boldin after Stokley got hurt and Doss took his spot.

Doss has 11 catches for 204 yards

Boldin has 10 catches for 139 yards and 1 TD.

Hopefully Doss keeps on progressing and keeps this up. If we can get Pitta back this year our offense should improve a lot.

To be fair Doss is playing with Torrey.  Which opens a lot of stuff up.  But Boldin has a running game.

Tandon is starting to look confident out there.

If you take out Boldin's freak game against Green Bay, he only has 16 catches for 213 yards. Just to add more to this discussion.

Yeah, but hypothetically Davis and Boldin should force defenses towards the center.  Where as torrey should open the middle up

wiht Davis' athletic ability I'd say he runs as many deep routes as torrey

It is hard to compare them judging their different situations. But If we can get Smith/Doss/Jones/Thompson/BRown and Pitta all healthy going into the post season I think we can really do some damage similiar to last year.

TD is really playing well. The only thing this guy was missing was confidence imo. Those easy catches he would drop was just a lack of confidence imo. Flacco said it best at the start of training camp, the biggest difference between these guys and Boldin was that Q knew he was the man. I think both Doss and Brown are starting to develop that confidence along with Torrey.

Doss is really starting to carve out his role in the offense and the chemistry between he and Flacco seems to be getting better each week. He's showing the play making ability the Ravens and Flacco saw when drafting him. Now that Brown, Jacoby and Thompson are healthy and Clark is playing well I can't wait to see Flacco work with these guys.

Tandon has proved all the doubters wrong and has become a consistent target for Joe. He has really stepped up with all the injuries and is getting better with more opportunity. You can tell he has a swagger now.

Yeah. It only took him getting FIRED for him to get his head out of his (non sun bearing orifice). Up to that point, after numerous opportunities, he did NOTHING!!! I am glad he has FINALLY turned it around, but save your back patting, you may strain your arm.

Doss has Flacco. Unfair advantage for Tandon. Man, did the analysts overrate Kaep. :D

you are so true! I always cramp up laughing when I hear those guys telling the story of two of the best QBs in the league and mention the names of Collin and Williams in the same sentence. Awesome "Analysts"

Lol, I didn't say anything about my own opinion being 100% correct, but now that you bring it up it does feel good.

Lets recognize used-to-be-disappointed dude is now a much better and improved reciever.  Polamalu was shaking up after hitting defenseless Doss in the middle of the field, and Doss himself stood up and checked if Troy was okay after the hit....I like it....
