Update: WR Tandon Doss is back

Doss was great on ST. Didn't see him make his mark on offense. BUt at least that side of the ball is stabilised for now.

Tandon Doss did a superb job yesterday returning punts and is right where he belongs - returning punts.  He has not proven he can be a legitimate WR.  When he returns to the lineup, Jacoby should not be returning punts. Its too bad we didn't keep Bobby Rainey to back up Tandon and our running backs. Returning KOs is a different matter. With the recent rules change to protect the kick returners, he could probably keep that job. The rule change has resulted in a situation where the NFL might as well eliminate KOs and allow the offense to take possession of the ball on the twenty yard line. But,oh, that would speed up the game too much, huh?!

Let's be honest here... the offense isnt really lighting it up by any means. Torrey is looking good and against double coverage but the WRs really aren't performing te and the running game. That includes everyone. It may take time and if it does Doss may make his mark on offense at some point.

I agree with you, but it seems like we're running out of guys that Flacco does trust.

Dickson -no. Clark - no. Doss - no.

3 targets for our TE's is a little ridiculous. On that note though, I cant remember the last time Bajema has dropped a pass. Granted he rarely gets targeted, but every ball I can remember being thrown his way he has caught it.

I say get Bajema more targets until he proves otherwise.

Well Bajema has only been targeted twice since he came to the Ravens.  He caught one of them (the one in the game the other day).  Not much of a sample there to go by.  That's regular season of course.  Not sure what those numbers might look like including pre-season.

In his career (8 full seasons + 2 games into 2013 so far) he has caught 39 passes on 67 targets, for a 58.2% completion percentage.

Not good, haha. Guess there goes that theory. Though hes caught his last 3 as a Raven (including this preseason).

Looked great on that return.  Not the fastest guy in the world, but he has tremendous vision and he's very smooth in his cuts.

Gladly eating crow on his Punt Return abilities. To be fair the skepticism was well deserved considering he's been known to be quick to call for a fair or catch or try to get down instead of trying to run forward full clip and look for running lanes. Lechler out kicked his coverage as he's been known to do from time to time and it put Doss in his comfort zone since he didn't have defenders sprinting at him within 15 yds. Really happy for Doss though man, glad he didn't get complacent after being cut and really got after it today.

Keep Doss on Punts even when Jacoby Returns. That way he has a bit more juice to play WR. I still want Jacoby on Kick Returns though.
I wonder if that shiftiness he showed on those returns could translate to offense. Could use a shifty WR like that on 3rd down.
Yeah in the slot

I'm glad Doss gets his confidence back and at least plays up to his potential, not as WR but as PR which is kind of shock to me.  However, I'm ready to eat Doss' crows and for him to prove the naysayers wrong is big for himself.

As a Ravens fan, any Ravens playmaker will get warmed welcome and cheer, regardless of their past.

I'm looking forward for his improvement.

Touchdown was nice but I'm not convinced, he's still a disappointment and needs to do a lot more to change that. Hopefully getting cut was enough to get his mind right.

Well said. I'm right in the boat with you. And as you can see, (Sig) I was a huge fan. He'll have to do a lot more, but today was huge for him.

Glad to see him making production on ST. Way to stay in bounds too. I think he saw Ray and was like "Oh man I better stay in bounds." lol Can't let the former General down.

He's been really strong on ST and the TD wwas huge. It was just what this team and fan base needed. it was huge man and probably even bigger for Doss.

The next step for Doss is to make plays as a WR. This team needs the WR position to step up and if Doss could help, great. He's definitely making the decision tough for when DT returns, but he'll have to start making plays at WR imo

Would like to see Doss use this second chance to contribute on offence, also. Unsure if this is beyond his capabilities, but his recent play has surely helped his overall confidence. One thing is for certain, we need weapons in the passing game, so Doss putting up his hand here could only help that element, too.

I wonder what would have happened without his TD yesterday.... While I was disappointed in his preseason I didn't want to see him get cut.

I am wondering how everyone who blasted him and begged for him to be cut feel about him now?  (and im not saying that opinion was completely out line, btw).

He needs to sustain the impact he's having on ST, and it would be great to start getting some contribution from him in the passing game.

I didn't like in the post game interview he said he didn't take care of his body, and that he was doing things off the field that he shouldn't have been doing.

I don't know what that means, but yes I hope him getting cut was a wakeup call and it seems to be so. That whatever wasn't clicking will click. It helps him that Mellette got injured and Jacoby got injured, but Jacoby will be back. Deonte will also be back. And then he won't see the field at all.

So, he better make plays at WR while he still can and Stokley still needs someone to take his reps.

I like the fact that he was honest. His role at WR will probably go away once Jacoby is healthy again, but I think he will stick as our primary PR. He is dynamite in that role and Jacoby has had some ball security issues when returning punts.
