Update: WR Tandon Doss is back

407 posts in this topic

I can't believe I'm saying this.

But ultimately, we don't have a returner right now, and Stokley looks slow. SLOW.

Do we bring him back? He's not great either, but with Jones out, Mellette being raw, and Stokley being slower than a tortoise, he might be the best option.

Thoughts?

He solves a PR returner role, not a KR returner role.  I think there are other options, Joe McKnight for example, that can handle both and fill a position that could use some depth.

I would, when he and Rainey both got cut I knew back-up PR would be an issue. I didn't think it would surface so fast though.

I think he as the proper motivation now and if jacoby is out we are in need so not a bad idea overall . who knows maybe he finds his hands and shows the skills we all thought he had .

If not Doss what about Laquan Williams . Both of these guys are familiar with our offense . at this point what do we have to lose ?  Williams in my opinion has upside but I bet Doss would love a second chance either way I'm game and its never a bad idea if it works.

I prefer LQ over Doss...that's probably just me though

Doss is a better returner and can play slot WR. That's what we need. Plus Laquan isn't healthy.

We have too  many droppers on team already, why add anther dropper with poor route running who is likely going to ride the bench?

Mellette and Thompson if healthy...

They aren't punt returners and Doss isn't a "dropper". He has excellent hands.

I dont think the ravens want to bring back Doss but i  always thought Doss would be a better slot receiver than Stokley just because he's younger, can get yards after the catch better, can be use on special teams, wont get gassed as fast as stokley did last nite, and etc.  Im not sure if Stokley able to consistently keep up with fast pace offense the ravens want to continue using  but any way the ravens definately need a punt/kick returner right now and that also can be solive once Deonte Thompson gets healthy

A PR/KR/WR is at the bottom of the list of needs for this team.

if anything, they need to bring is some O-line depth and maybe a saftey.

His football mentality isn't excellent which led to even worst situation if he's on the field.  We gave him a lot time to develop as we thought he should be but he fails to take it to the next level.  We need to promote someone within our ST group to do KR and PR job.

HAHAHAHAHAH

Have you ever even seen a ravens game?   Doss couldn't catch the ebola virus.

And who do we have if Jacoby misses an extended period?  No one, and that's why a KR/PR is important.  We don't want Webb and/or Pierce out there.  They're too valuable.

Disagree. Webb should not be returning punts and another slot WR would help a lot considering how slow Stokley looked out there. We already have OL depth and safety depth. Remember our first round pick?

Eagerly waiting to see what Mellete can do in the passing game too.  Hopefully, he's not in that infamous Harbaugh 'doghouse'.  He seems to have a personality.  Something Harbaugh doesn't like.

Get a clue. Or some eyes. Or some football intelligence.

You can't just promote someone to PR or KR. Its us a very important skill that has to be learned. Why do you think Webb was out there returning punts?

LOL! When I suggested this in another thread, I was just joking. No. I don't want him back. There are surely more options. I mean, we found Bobby Rainey as an undrafted free agent. Same for Marlon Brown. There has GOT to be better options. Maybe give Gerrard Sheppard a chance?

LOL at "excellent" hands.... yeah, and I am Superman too, they should sign me...

But anyways... If we bring in Doss, I do NOT want him to mess with Brown's progression. I want Brown out on the field. Besides Torrey, he's the only guy on our whole offense who made any kind of noise.
