Jacoby Jones out 4-6 weeks - Who fills in?

281 posts in this topic

Here's something just to make tonight worse lol..

How bad is the injury. From the few plays he was in here he looked good.

Look for the WR sets to be

Torrey

Marlon "The Monster" Brown

and Jacoby in the slot.

Rather than Stokley being there.

IF he comes back healthy

I hate to bring this up but this is exactly why I was surprised Rainey didn't make the 53 man team. I brought it up in other threads that with Thompson still injured and Jackson suspended Rainey was hands down the best insurance return guy on the team. It is what it is and hopefully Jacoby's injury isn't too serious to keep him out an extended time...

No word on Jacoby yet...but let's assume he's gone for a little? Who the heck is gonna replace him? Is Deonte healthy?

I'm starting to feel like our roster is a complete mess.

This is where it was a mistake to cut Rainey.

And for who? Trawick? Geez.

I posted this same thing in another thread  I knew we would regret cutting him I just didn't think we would regret it this fast .

Why was Mellette not dressed?

Coaches decided he wasn't one of the best 46 to put on the field.

Webb didn't look up for returning punts last night.

He kept calling for the fair catch, even when he had a lot of room to run in to.

He looked exhausted, but I wonder if was because he was scared of risking injury to his knee.

Can Chykie Brown return kicks/punts? He ran a 4.37 40, why not give him a shot?

Really wish Asa Jackson wasn't an idiot. EVERYONE who follows/is involved in football knows that Adderall is a banned substance, and it's not even the first time he's been caught!! Seriously, if I'm getting drug tested fairly regularly, I don't take drugs!

Can't be using Webby for returns no more. Way too risky and he gets tired quicker.

I agree.  Depth is too risky.  We need some additional depth at WR (if Deonte and Jacoby are still going to be out), OL, and CB.

I don't think the team really wanted him returning punts.  We just put him out there to fair catch.

I expect us to bring back one of the guys we cut @ WR.  Especially with Jacoby being hobbled for what looks like multiple games.

Asa has an actual prescription for it though, it just didn't clear in time before his second offense unfortunately.

On positive note for Jacoby's injury, we have another chance to see Marlon proving he belongs in the starter WR group...

Negative side, without Jacoby, we have no threat on passing game and PR/KR.

Like everyone said, I hope Thompson back so he and Torrey work on the outside deep route and Marlon work on the inside.

Last night game, I see huge potential for Marlon's break out of the year as an undrafted rookie.  If Joe throw the ball up for contested catch, I believe Marlon will win the jump ball 9/10 times like Boldin, and he runs crispy route too.

The Browns game, we will see big time Marlon and Torrey attack.

Damn, we need a TE who can catch the balls!

I'll give Clark 1 more game to redeem before we kick him off the ship since we have no other choice right now....

However, Furg can get in the rotation to see what he can really do....

I've wouldn't mind taking Taverres King from the Broncos PS (Marlon Brown's former teammate from Georgia, drafted in the 5th round) or Cobi Hamilton from the Bengals PS (6th round from Arkansas).

Isn't Laquan injured anyway?

Time to put Mellette in the slot instead of slowwwww Stokely . Time to put Furstenburg at Tight End instead of " put a fork in me I'm done" Clark .

Has anybody heard about Jacoby's status? Or Oher's for that matter?

A knee sprain isn't good news for a guy who relies on his blazing speed...

That's terrific. Some of the worst news of the offseason and the season so far. That's a huge blow to our ST and offense because of his big play potential.
