...is the motto, correct?

I'm not one of the Boldin fanboys (in my case fangirls), but the deficiencies of our receiving corps were ridiculously apparent tonight.

I'm hardly a Flacco apologist, but the drops were just out of control tonight. Can't expect your QB succeed in that environment.

So what happens now? Do we make a trade? Is Clark gone? Let's talk.

We must add a receiver. Must.

Whether that's a trade, FA, whatever. We won't survive with the guys we have, especially if Jones is out for awhile.

I'm actually fine with WR if we activate Mellette since Brown and Torrey looked good. TE is the problem and its a big one.

I say we stick with who we got for another week. Depending on how that goes, we could do a few different things. If Clark continues to struggle next week, cut him and bring up Furstenburg. If Stokley continues to struggle, cut him and play Mellette. I'd rather struggle with young'uns than old vets.

If they rebound, that's good news.

Yep.  Checks watch.  We did just win the SB, and Oz was named the best GM by other GM.

Sometimes things go wrong.  We couldn't predict that Pitta would be out for most of the season.

Yes the motto is still good. I think it is time to give Kyle a shot at TE. Also wouldn't mind trying to grab a cheap possession guy that isn't 70.

Give Kyle a chance for sure. He seems to be really good out in the open, maybe not as a fullback but as a tight end he's shown great ball skills in Harvard. Nice hands, and he's fast.

as of right now id rather see torrey and brown on the outside, rice in the slot and BP in the backfield.  I dont know who could be brought in but clark being a veteran i didnt expect huge athletic plays, but a guy like him cant drop those kind of passes.  and Stokely....just no.

Hardly a way to start a positive thread.  Someone needs to pay more attention to SAM.

There are a lot of things I want to/will probably have to address in the coming days, but our team just gave up an NFL record tying 7 passing TDs.  I think we all need to cool down.

I agree with the second part. Young guys at least can learn. The old guys will just get older and more useless. As far as stick with them, I do not know. Didn't we see enough tonight to see that they suck really bad? If we do stick we should have an alternative waiting in the wings just in case the Browns get ahead by 35 points, we could plug the young new guys in and at least let them get some practice.

I don't think it's wise to cut a few guys after one bad game. Give them a chance to bounce back.

Do it for the good

Ok, here we go

Joe looked fine. Outside of the Monster(Marlon's new nickname) and Torrey the WRs sucked worse than Micheal Bay's second Transformers movie. Can't blame him on most of those drops.

The Defense WOULD have been good if the WRs held on to the damn ball. The offense would have had more time to score points and the defense would have had rest. That being said the D didn't play to well either

Jimmy Smith played very well tonight other than that one TD. But if I'm correct it was a Manning audible. Not much any CB can do there lol .Almost all the other TDs were at the fault of Graham.

Doom and Gloom baby.

Dayrl Smith played well

James I played admirably. He has heart but not the best game.

KO and Yanda might be the best guard tandem in the whole NFL. The rest of the Oline......... Eh

That's about it. There's not much else that was good lol.

I mean we were REALLY bad tonight lol

Brown played great. I don't miss Boldin at all.

Stoke can't be used that much. We don't need to sign or trade for any receivers, we just needed to have more receivers on the active roster. Mellette should have been activated. Most of the issues are on Clark and Dickson, a few on Stoke.

I'm guessing Clark and Stoke are knocking off rust? Doing a favor for Manning? I don't know. Clark looked like he can't catch well. Juice and Furst should have gotten more opportunities.

Depressing game.

Few points from tonight's game:

1) To say Clark had a bad night is an understatement,  Clark went 7 out of 12 for 87 yards with about 5 drops. The drops are awful, yet the receiving yards were not bad. Please keep in mind: A) He hasn't been on the team a month B )He's had ONE pre-season game with Flacco C) He did start to come around near the end of the game. I have faith Clark will rebound against Cleveland.

2) If we cut Clark, What do we do at TE? Maybe try to promote Furst but he's still so raw. Maybe put Juice more at TE, but how much better will a FB do with some experience at TE? Sign back Shiancoe? LOL  There's little to nothing on the TE market.

3) If there's anyone to be talking about, talk about Dickson. Where was he all game?? ONE reception for 13 yards on FIVE targets. He definitely proved to me that he isn't much of a starting TE by not getting separation or making cathces. Not to mention he did have a few drops. At least Clark got the receiving yards along with his drops.

4) The injuries tonight HURT. A LOT. Losing Oher was big as our line was slaughtered by the Denver pass rush after that. Wagner* showed to me tonight that he is truly a work in progress, but might have some potential. The loss of Jacoby was a big hit to our receiving core. He was looking actually quite solid before he went down with 3 receptions for 24 yards on 4 targets. After he went out and Stokley came in, things went bad. Stokley shouldn't be our starting receiver, but as a #3 or #4 AT BEST. Really wish Mellette played tonight. Him and Brown would have shined on the national stage.

5) In all, Receiving wasn't as bad as it appeared (Excluding Jacoby's injury). Torrey proved he can be a solid #1 with his 92 yards on 4 receptions and 8 targets (Don't let targets fool you, at least 2 of those targets were plays designed to draw PI). Brown continued to shine. Jacoby like I said was strong until he went down. Stokley should only be used across the middle on 4 WR sets. Rice and Leach were both solid contributors as well.

6) The defensive line shut down all 3 RB's. However, with the line Manning has, and the fact that he's Peyton Manning, getting to him for ANY D-line is extremely difficult. Our line got 3 sacks on him tonight and hit him 7 times. Any other QB who isn't considered one of the greatest all-time would have had a much worse night. The pass rush will get better, you just gotta give it time

7) Daryl Smith was about as good as we expected. He did everything he was asked and almost got a pick. Josh Bynes, not so much. I am no fan of Bynes as a starter, and I firmly believe Brown should get the role. We drafted him for a reason, and he can't play much worse than Bynes.

8) For the secondary, Webb is back, and is a beast. Corey can be solid a solid #2 for us, but when the Broncos have Thomas and Welker, he just can't win. Smith would be solid in coverage for a few plays, but he'd then lose his man or get borderline PI plays. Don't get me started on his bonehead penalty. I just can't trust Smith. Huff was quite unreliable tonight. He lost his man quite often. Ihegidbo continues to show me why he will never move past solid back-up. He gets tackles, but blows coverage pretty often. I'd like to see Elam get more time. Everyone else was quiet, which I think is good.

In all this game was bad. Very bad. But like Al Michaels said:

"This is the first game for a transitioning team, going against a team of Denver's caliber."

We'll get better through time, and I expect a better presentation of how good our team can be either Week 6 against Green Bay or Week 10 against Cincinnati

Alright, positivity.

The young players showed promise, and once we gel this team will be good. Most of our issues today were fundamentals, communication breakdowns, and bad chemistry. Those things usually get sorted out quickly. We will be hitting our stride come playoff time.

I couldn't agree with this statement more!  I been saying we need to play the young lions on our team.
