No idea if DirectTV works the same way my non-satellite works, but according to my provider, occasionally switching through the different video sources works for their stuff.

Thanks, but I believe I've exhausted all the source switching options. It's just a PITA with neither room being able to have some tv going.

Power outage. I get home and direct tv works in the living room but the tv won't turn on. TV turns on in the bedroom but the direct tv box isn't sending signal to the tv (someone explain that to me). Internet is out. Guess I'm reading comics on my tablet tonight.

Move the living room receiver to the bedroom (or the bedroom TV to,the living room). You can also reboot the bedroom receiver by unplugging it for 30 seconds (or find the reset button). I have DirecTV on speed dial (800-531-5000) and they always get me working again real fast.

I just had that the other day.  We had someone volunteer to pull all of the chicken off the bone and we put it on a plate and divided accordingly.
