Week 1 - Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos

I saw that hahaha.

I'm in there now telling them how delusional they are because they are trying to say that Torrey Smith did not abuse Champ in that game. Ridiculous.

Please bring up that the moron made up a word. I refuse to register on their boards lol And that Kruger was the epitome of a situational pass rusher.

I was considering it as well. The one moron tried to use the term multifaceted to describe Kruger and then act like he was intellectually superior to the Ravens fan.... Only he spelled multifaceted "multi facid" and that word doesn't even come close to describing Kruger's skill set.

What a jabroni: "Kruger < Dumervil but just a slight upgrade, Kruger is more versitale and multi facid. Is that word too big for you?"

The glory in this word/phrase cannot be understated.

I'm so ready for football to be back. This game particularly but it also means I can park myself in front of the television on Sunday.

"Then why was Champ Bailey catching up to Torrey Smith on the first TD? Why was Champ step for step with Smith on the 2nd TD? Or is being step for step pulling away to you?"

This is what this guy said to me when I said Torrey roasted Champ in that game. I highlighted the part about the touchdowns and said "I bolded the important parts for you."  :D

I just discovered it the other week and I catch myself using it all the time now ;)

I was going to, but one of his fellow Broncos fans already called him out on it haha.

The sad part is that Torrey isn't exactly know for nabbing contested balls.  But like you noted, the plays still resulted in TDs, anyway you look at it, Champ couldn't stop him.

The denial is strong with this one.

I'm both nervous and excited at the same time. Its scary not knowing what's going to happen. Right now I'm just excited for the game to start. just knowing ravens football is back is exciting. But once 8:30 hits, ill be in stress-mode.

I just like knowing it is 0-0 right now.  Which means anything can happen.

I just don't want to fall behind early.  We have a tendency to do so.  But 0-0, at least we have a chance of grabbing the bulls by the horn.

Super excited for this year! I think we're gonna be great.

Screw Irvin and his 5-11 prediction. 11-5 sounds better. Whos gonna be on the game chat tonight?

Julius Thomas got arrested for failure to appear in court regarding a traffic violation.  I'll bet he still plays tonight.  Denver probably feels as though they'll be missing enough pieces as is.

I don't. Orioles need to play. I'm glad we are opening away. It shows that we are strong and not babies about it. Also more home games later on!

Here are some numbers that my man Callahan was so kind to compile per my request:

"OK, here's what I came up with (this includes the post-season, and this only counts Joe Flacco's time on the field, not Tyrod Taylor):

  • The Ravens had 72 drives which contained a 20+ yard completion (or pass interference).
  • On those 72 drives, they scored 350 points (including PATs and a two point conversion).
  • The Ravens scored 522 points total on the season, so that's more than two thirds of their total points scored.
  • 16 of those drives ended in a 20+ yard pass completion for a touchdown.
  • 63 of those drives contained a 20+ yard pass completion that WASN'T a touchdown.
  • Which means that 9 of those drives contained a touchdown pass as the only 20+ yard completion in the drive.
  • And that 7 of the 63 other drives contained at least two 20+ yard passes, because one of them was the touchdown at the end of it.

What happened to finish out the drive after the bomb pass on those 63 drives?

  • 1 Interception
  • 2 Lost Fumbles (both by Ray Rice)
  • 9 Punts
  • 1 Missed Field Goal
  • 16 Field Goals
  • 12 Touchdown Passes
  • 22 Rushing Touchdowns (3 by Flacco)

81.9% of the 72 drives ended in a score.

59.7% ended in a touchdown.

29.2% ended in a touchdown pass for Flacco.

13.9% ended in a punt/turnover on downs (missed field goal included).

04.2% ended in a giveaway.

Looks to me like Flacco gets the team in scoring position with a deep ball, and then more often than not this turns into a rushing touchdown rather than a passing TD for Flacco's stat sheet.  Something to think about!"

If this tells you anything it should indicate that we need to take these boys DEEP tonight. With their question marks at corner and depleted pass rush Joe should have all night to sit back there and connect with Torrey, Jacoby, and Ed Dickson deep down the field. Allow the vertical passing game to set up the other facets of our offense. Hit them where they're weakest.

I'm getting giddy. ONLY 3 MORE HOURS!

The champs are going to rock out no matter where they play.  Raven Nation is represented in Colorado pretty well.  The Julius Thomas spin could get interesting but likely he will play.  Should expect a lively crowd without the cold to distract them.  The brew will be flowing at Sport Authority and some drunken wildness could ensue.  When it's all said and done your Raven's will be going home with a W and the the Bronco's Raven's rivalry will continue to burn likely in the 2013 playoff.  Let's Go Raven Nation!

BAL's got a vote of confidence for tonight's game from Joe Namath!  This is one pundit that isn't blinded by the popular narrative set by ESPN & NFL.

What'd he say?

And Namath is just a winner. Not a stats guy, a winner. He knows.
