Week 1 - Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos

5,104 posts in this topic

Sooo. Manning throws to Welker, Thomas and Decker with a meager run game and has a top 5 defense.

Flacco throws to Torrey Smith..... and ... um.. Rice is pretty good and the defense looks poor.

Don't forget Marlon Brown!

and [s]Dallas Clark[/s] and [s]Ed Dickson[/s] and....

Suggs is not a leader on defense, he is self promoting.

Dumervil is not that good. I saw it when we played them in the playoffs.

Huff is a joke at safety.

Clark, Stokely, Dickson, Trawick can kick rocks.

Webb is a beast.  Flacco played pretty well but he obviously needs a go to receiver. Field position is going to kill us with Jacoby hurt. And all who said get rid of Oher.  You have to be kidding me.

One more thing, I think cutting Bobby Rainey was a mistake (so we could keep Trawick, lol). After Jacoby went down obviously we had Webb back there. Why would we put a guy even on the field on special teams who is our top corner and has torn both ACLs. You could see he was incredibly hesitant returning punts and I think he only brought back 1 on the day, for a moderate gain when there was plenty of space available.

i was thinking the same thing, imagine if that was webbs knee... had they had webb back he would have been in the exact same place as jacoby to fair catch that ball.

and Dallas Clark and Ed Dickson and....

I can hope for him to be a player, but it's just a little bit too early for me to add him as a consistent threat.

This loss, doesn't surprise me.  I look at our schedule and I see us losing a few more at least.  Doesn't change the goal in the least:

Win the Division

We must talk about how much we suck. We Must!

Leave no nook un-examined.

Lets just talk about food again

True. Last time we had a good draft spot, we landed Joe and Ray Rice.

Ozzie traded out of the good draft spot if you recall, but yes.

He almost matched Doss' three years of production in one game, so that's something.

Oh I know. I'm just trying to see some semblance of a faint high note here.

i was FUMING when they kept clark over furstenburg, and he validated that tonight, he got lucky with that facemask. not saying furstenburg wouldve been better, but hell he wouldnt have been worse. im not upset with joes play, he lit up the first half, then our special teams and defense just gave up everything they could, and put joe in a real tough spot to come back. i felt good about huff at first, but wow, he was AWFUL, sickening, disgusting, idc if elam's a rookie OR a ss, start the guy over that bum huff. dickson, yeah hes been known to drop a few, i guess that just gets worse when you dont get a single preseason rep. we gotta find a replacement for michael oher ASAP, and one thing i think ozzie needs to stop, is drafting these swing players who are always somewhere between average and awful, jah reid, jensen, cousins, hardwood, etc. obviously these guys dont tend to be very successful, jensens another example.

brightside : marlon brown looked like the real deal, torrey seems to be a bona fide number 1, joe flacco is spreading the ball everywhere(which would be a good thing, if dallas clark wasnt one of those targets he consistently aimed for) and digs is obviously starting material, i dont see this terrible jimmy smith yall are talking about, (i didnt see the 3rd quarter because i was on the light rail, but what i saw was excellent) webbs back to form, and if you eliminate the sudden huge plays, our defense looked good, idk if it was communication errors, coverage breakdowns, or just crucial missed tackles on 7 plays(im counting based on the td's peyton threw for) but the pass rush seemed to get some pressure, and the run D was solid.

all in all, we got some work to do

EDIT: wagner not jensen

Wagner really was not bad in Oher's place, I was pleased with the depth that was shown in that aspect

visanthe > clark/dickson .. he didn't look good in the pre season but clark and dickson are AWFUL and visanthe can come in and know the playbook right away.

kenny britt will be an upgrade at WR. dont care what anyone says- Torrey, Britt, Brown - for the sake of depth britt will be nice.

start elam next game

If Dallas Clark is on this team Tomorrow it will only be because the Raven Front Office refuses to acknowledge their errors.

The man can't hold onto the ball.......can't get separation.......can't even hold the ball while running after one of his rare non-drops.

Brandon Stokely can't jump....can't run....can't separate and Flacco has to force it into a tiny window to even try to get it to him.  And Stokely can't find that window past the first down marker.  It's too incredulous to believe, even though it was so predictable.

Will someone explain why Ozzie Newsome feels these two guys can do it....but Anquan Boldin was insufficiently valuable.

When you can answer that question without laughs.....you will be in a position to help Ozzie keep his job.

I didn't quite hear the press question, but Harbs responded with something about "didn't see it", "NBC needs to do a better job with it" or something along those lines.

I was assuming that was in reply to the non-challenge situation. Guess not.

The Safeties were also a glaring weakness......We didn't come close to finding viable replacements for Reed and Pollard.

Cary Williams was missed.

Anquan Boldin was sorely missed.

Ellerbe was missed.

Michael Huff was Disaster

Corey Graham was toasted repeatedly......Tried to tell the folks here Cary Williams was undervalued too.

Pay the Price Ravens...........Pay the Price!!!

Those guys weren't exactly high draft picks either though, but we need to draft some good lineman soon. Age and FA are going to hit very soon.

Hey guise, why don't we just cut all our WRs besides Torrey and use that money to buy Calvin Johnson??? Lol that work, right??

*sigh*

Opening in a terrible game on national TV sucks, for sure, but its not cause to light half our team on fire and start over.

I know we will bounce back from this . why didn't they  at least try Arthur brown and elam we were getting blown out anyway ,,,,,they dragged huff right along with them to score .....Heres where things come back to bite ya butt. Ed Reed being let go ,,even a hobbled reed is better then huff .Jones can't return anything and the browns have rainey ,,,,,,,no clue where clark lost his hands at but maybe he should find them in all fairness he was open allot ,,,,,,,maybe because he dropped allot of balls and required no defense at all. Oher  huge loss and I am hard on him so now I get to eat my words.

Marlon Brown is the real deal and shined when no one else did this evening . next time keep mellete active ,,,,
