Manziel shouldn't be on the field of play. Terrell Pryor got tattoos and gave out apparel, and got 4 games which carried over to the NFL. This guy signs things for almost 8Gs and gets suspended one half of a game. I don't like him one bit

The other question I have is this - Why do we let the media determine who we should hate? And why isn't anyone disgusted by the scumbag autograph brokers who ratted the kid out? Are they not the real scumbags? Sign this for me so I can sell it...what I won't tell you is that even though I'm not an NCAA undercover spy, I'm going to tell the media about this for reasons only known to me...and I may or may not tell the NCAA what really happened

I already know Johnny should have used better judgement when several guys pull him aside and say sign this stuff for me. One could argue that by taking cash he did in fact use good judgement. But which college athlete who has been adorned the titled of Chosen One would not actually make the same "mistake". Which college/pro athlete doesn't think he can be absolved of any guilt or get away with anything??? That's classic media - build 'em up and then tear 'em down...make it a love affair of sorts...that's their "m-o"

It's still stupid that the NCAA bans students from being able to accept money from their own signature.

The students own their signature - the NCAA cannot claim rights to that.  It's completely hypocritical for the NCAA to make hundreds of millions of dollars off of these kids to turn around and say "Oh, yeah kids, sorry even though you are really famous and make us tons of money, all you can possibly get is a scholarship."

Imagine if the NFL decided to do the same.  What is the difference between the NCAA and the NFL?  What gives the NCAA the right to completely undercut the kids that make them so much money.

They've been able to win over everyone on the BS that if you do such things, you are no longer an amateur.

I myself bought into the BS because I was a walk-on wrestler at a DI school...a very small school that while we didn't have that level of notoriety, there were still rumors of people in Administration writing the papers of some of the basketball players. Either way, small schools aren't having press conferences after every game/match. TV stations don't cover small schools 24/7.

Reason it is BS - a friend of mine's brother was getting recruited for football. Both of his parents were educators. The kid wanted to major in engineering and when he went to some of the big schools (I think this was specifically an ACC school) and made his intentions known, he was told something along the lines of: 'we generally try to make sure our guys are focusing as much time as possible on football. Engineering would probably require more of your time...' Not sure what was said after that to officially discourage his choice of study. Needless to say his mom made the decision that he wouldn't be attending that school. I think he ended up at Rhode Island or somewhere.

They have been successful in selling everyone on the idea that kids get a free education to play a sport. What happens to the kid that wanted to be a biology or engineering major that gets discouraged from doing that. What is that person left with if they get injured and lose their scholarship? Nevermind the fact that they aren't necessarily going to have a guaranteed scholarship every year.

I love the new Troll-Flacco. Can't win them over (tbh, no matter what Joe has done or will ddo, he'll never truly get his due)? So troll them.

Love it!  :plus-un2:

I think you may have hit it on the head. Joe is giving them something else to talk about instead of them bringing up the words "elite" and "Fluko," it may be a smart move. :)
