Yeah, I'd be down for Furstenburg. I like him, but I'm not sure I understand the hype train behind the guy. I think he has a shot, though I don't know how likely it is. He hasn't looked too good. We don't have a blocker. Please, don't suggest we use Dickson to block. For one, he's going to be a major piece of our offense as a receiving threat. Using him to block would be idiotic (at least that's how I see it). You're eliminating one of your playmakers by doing that. Dickson isn't even that great of a blocker. I have concerns about Clark, but I am not sure we'll cut him in favor of Furstenburg.
What I saw on the tape from Furstenburg was a guy who was athletic enough to have potential but who needed to be groomed a lot more to be an effective TE. Now, perhaps he's our Torrey Smith of the preseason, a player who looked terrible in the preseason and boomed in the regular season. I'm not against the notion. I just think there's a chance Furstenburg goes on the PS and clears waivers. We could take a gamble and decide to cut Bajema to keep him. I'm not sure anyone would be knocking on Billy's door.
So, yes. I can see Furstenburg making the initial 53 if that makes anyone feel better, but how long he lasts is another story entirely.
