I don't think Jah Reid makes the team to be honest.  I do agree 100% with receivers though.  Stokley is obviously a lock along with Marlon Brown in my opinion.  I could see Brown competing with Jacoby as number 2 since Stokley is more of a slot receiver.

Mellette and Quan make the team because of special teams skills.  Mellette's blocked punt and versatility is a big factor.

Deonte Thompson makes the team because of his receiving abilities and backup to Jacoby

Doss is out.  He doesn't play special teams and hasn't shown much as a receiver.

It's hard to see Furstenburg go.  I think we may see him stay over Bajema but I'm not too sure.

I'd like to agree here, but who's realistically going to make the team over him?  There's nothing behind him that has any real shot, in my opinion.

But just to kind of go off of what you said, I think we collectively did really well.  I think it will end up being very close to the actual roster.  I still think Doss makes it, but I do see why people are saying he won't

I agree with your point on Jah.  But I do think we will find someone else to take his place (I haven't been watching O-line too attentively).  He has just made no real improvement.

Seeing Streeter cut so early dashed any thought in my mind that Doss makes the team barring an outstanding final pre-season game.  Streeter had much more in terms of potential when you look at how raw he was and his physical ability.  Doss is a pure receiver who is not that good at what he does.  He can have the best practices in the world, but his total disappearance in games leaves no reason for me to believe he makes the team.

It's his 3rd season and he hasn't gotten any better.  Why keep dragging him along with the hopes we MIGHT get something out of him.  Marlon Brown has done more as a rookie and Mellette has shown flashes along with that blocked punt.  He does a lot on special teams.

Without getting too in depth here since the Doss discussion is seemingly going on everywhere, I can somewhat agree.  I don't care either way whether he's on the team or not.  I see both sides.  At the end of the day, it's the team's decision and not mine though.  I just think that the team will keep him around, despite what the opinion around here is.

I agree with us only keeping 5 corners. We could really keep 4 with Huff going to the corner spot when we need him to.

Anyone think Dallas Clark gets cut in a surprise and we keep
Bajema and Furstenburg?

They would have to have real confidence in using Furstenburg with the first team a lot. Considering they don't even seem to have enough to use him on the first team in the preseason games, this move would be a tremendous shock to me. He could make it, but not over Clark.

I doubt it - the big thing about Clark (same with Stoke) is his familiarity with Jim Caldwell's offensive style - Clark worked with Caldwell for his entire career except last year.  So I think his understanding of the kind of plays Caldwell is looking for and what he needs to do to be successful in this offense will keep him here.  I think the battle is between Bajema and Furst.

I wouldn't be shocked if he makes the team over Bajema. I think if given their druthers, The Ravens put furstenburg on Practice squad but I don't believe they believe he clears. Might they keep four at the expense of say, Tyson?

I like the projected roster a lot. I think there will be some depth added at O-line from without.

I hope he was just knocking the rust off.

Even though Huff has the ability to kick out and play CB, I really doubt it happens.  Any time there's an article on him, it always says how glad Huff is that he's permanently at S and doesn't have to bounce around anymore.  I'm sure if they did ask him, he'd do it.  However, I don't think that's in the team's plans at all barring extenuating circumstances.

I don't know if any one mentioned it or not, but we will want two or three disposable positions.

Asa Jackson due back in six games.
Pitta might end up on IR designated to return.
If Dickson goes on PUP.

I feel like I am missing a fourth playet that might join us late, but I am drawing a blank...

Asa Jackson is suspended for 8 games.

Ed Dickson can't go on the PUP.

Bobby Rainey is a possible player on trade bait.   Considering how bad we are @ TE, we need a solid TE that can help us big time on vertical passing:

2 of these guys are luxury players like Bobby.

Cowboys - James Hanna

Broncos - Julius Thomas

What do you guys think?

My bad on Asa, I knew that I guess I thought the 6 on my phone looked like an eight...

Why cant Dickson go on PUP ?

I am not buying a Rainey trade for a second.

Talk of a J.J. trade seems to make sense though.

You can't go on the PUP unless you started training camp there.  Once a player practices once, they are no longer eligible.

I like the roster as posted, but I'd like to see us take a chance with Furst.

I forgot to update this.  Here's how we did...

Guys we put on that didn't make it:

1.  Anthony Allen

2.  Billy Bajema

3.  Marc Anthony

4.  Omar Brown

Guys we didn't put on that did make it:

1.  Dennis Pitta

2.  Ryan Jensen

3.  Brynden Trawick

4.  Anthony Levine

Other:

1.  LaQuan Williams originally made the team, replaced by Robert James.

Overall, we didn't do too bad.  The Pitta/Bajema spot gets a pass because no one knew that Pitta had to be on the active roster to go on the short-term IR.  I'd even give the Jensen miss a pass as well because everyone seemed to think he'd be on the IR.  I'd also consider it pretty unpredictable that we'd go with only 2 RB's and 4 CB's.  Safety is really the only spot we struggled.
