City of Denver has many large Joe Flacco posters up for kickoff

113 posts in this topic

Thursday night is the big TV night. That is why the Ravens are opening their season in Denver. It isn't because of the Orioles. It isn't because of Rosh Hashanah. It's because the NFL wanted to make sure that the season opens on that night.

And the NFL not moving the game has zero to do with Rosh Hashanah. It's all about Wednesday ratings being lower. The real culprit here is not the NFL but NBC.

This is the truth.

Soooooo if we opened the season last year against the Pats and they had a huge banner of Brady flying at M&T, you guys would be cool with that?

Not. A. Chance.

I'd be flipping out and so would the majority of this board. Just sayin.....

Yeah, seriously. People are all peachy about it, but I know damn well I'd be pissed if there was a Brady banner at the bank.

Hell, the people on this board still get their panties in a bunch over Skip Bayless spouting nonsense or Joe being ranked 40th on a Top 100 list. These people get furious and livid over whether our opener is home or away. And they think they'd be perfectly calm if a Brady banner was hung at the bank? That's laughable.

The game should not even be played in Denver...From the looks of things the Orioles are fading and that game may not even be a crucial one for them could even be a rain out.

I agree. I'm really ticked the Ravens have to go to St Louis come back and then fly to Denver.

Super Bowl Champs treated by the NFl like chumps.

They have every right to be upset, but no right to vandalize the posters.

This. Its just childish to stoop to those levels.

Let's say Broncos won that game, and were the SB Champs. This would be THEIR opening night. Would they still be mad about Joe's banner all over town?

I read a joke and someone stop me if they read the same. It read that Rahim Moore tried to bring the posters down himself, but he couldn't jump high enough to reach them!

I don't know why they find it such a big deal, if the game was here and they had images of Manning in Baltimore I honestly wouldn't mind.

True, but Manning didn't outplay Flacco and knock the Ravens outta the playoffs last year............hehe.

When ever have they been treated with respect?

Actualy, it was MLB that wouldn't agree to changing the O's game.

They could have played the game on Wednesday .

Yes, there were many scenarios that would have accomadated the Ravens, but it was MLB that didn't want to budge, the O's never really had a voice in it.

We wouldn't care if those same banners were hanging at M&T. Why? Because we (The Ravens) won! They can hang Manning/Flacco banners everywhere, because Joe BEAT him, haha.

The comment in the initial link of "IMO, Joe Flacco is the most overhyped and overrated QB ever" can be nothing but severe sour grapes of a hostile Bronco fan; as a 49er fan, I empathize with the Bronco fans in seeing the Ravens as an agent of disappointment, but such remarks carry no reason at all. Trust me from a football fan immersed in New York City sports circles (ie, lot of out of towners who wear their colors on Sundays), Flacco is not overhyped at all; fans still, on whole, speak of Brady and Manning as the ruling class of QBs (with Brees and Rodgers in the same breath), and Wilson and Kaepernick as the ultimate QB fantasy choices for 2013. Flacco is neither not overrated at all, even if only because he isn't mentioned enough, comparatively, as the reigning Super Bowl champion QB. He is one of the most pure, precise passers  - throwing superb spirals - I have seen in a long time (the Kurt Warner of 2000-2001 merits comparison, and Joe Montana comparisons need not be scoffed at). Even his 'rainbows' have a perfect spiral with accurate trajectory. He seems like a cool guy too! One would have to be a Scrooge to have a problem with him.

I don't mind the extreme disappointment, and talk of payback, but this vitriol exuded by some Bronco and 49er fans of 'they cheated' and the games being 'fixed' is ludicrous. The controversial calls/non-calls which benefited the Ravens in both games were far from game deciding. Overall, John Fox and Jim Harbaugh (even Belichick, perhaps) were simply outcoached, IMHO - and that counts a lot.

Good luck on that Thursday night. I might be in my favorite sports bar!

This outrage sounds like a premise for a South Park episode loool.

ohhhh my goddddd i cant wait to see the south park episode featuring the ravens and have them use stan marsh's dad to represent how whiny and idiotic the whole bronco nation is being, by having him go to the game with stan and getting plastered, and embarrassing stan to no end, probably getting decked out in broncos gear, getting naked in public, and starting a fight, while stan shakes his head..

sorry when i read that i just created a whole plot in my head

I agree with the Broncos fans. If we had started 2012 against the Pats and they hung Brady posters in M&T, I'd be having a fit.

a cundiff poster would be worse

they are broncos fans!  they have a right to be upset over the reigning Superbowl MVP's banner hanging over their stadium.  I love how they are pissed over that visual reminder of the guy who put the dagger in them...during the playoffs...at their house!  sooo, by their reaction...it is safe to say that this "opening" game will be their Superbowl!  lol!  all the Ravens need to do is go in there and unpack their new look, younger, faster and attacking defense on'em to smother Peyton and get out of there with the W.

Lmao Denver fans are such whiny word that rhymes with witches.

They should be happy that they're even hosting the game.

This.I still feel as though Goodell jerked us out of the ceremonial home opener.

Lets put it in Perspective.

Lets say its the 2013 season opener ( last yr) and we are playing the PATS at the Bank and we are seeing Brady banners around B more, i think we would do the same.

To me , i think its a term of endearment.  They thought they should of won and the better team actually won.

Exactly.

Except that we played an entire slate of games on Rosh Hashana all the time, every year, but suddenly it's an issue.

It wasn't the holiday. That was their excuse. it was greed.

This!!

But it was the NFL that was unwilling to eat the loss that they would have taken from either playing the game on Wednesday or putting it at a time on Thursday that wouldn't have conflicted with the Orioles.
