City of Denver has many large Joe Flacco posters up for kickoff

I agree with the Broncos fans. If we had started 2012 against the Pats and they hung Brady posters in M&T, I'd be having a fit.

I don't blame the Denver fans for being upset with the Flacco banners. We would feel the same way.

Nothing like the NFl giving the Bronocs some additional bulletin board material for the game against us.

Soooooo if we opened the season last year against the Pats and they had a huge banner of Brady flying at M&T, you guys would be cool with that?

Not. A. Chance.

I'd be flipping out and so would the majority of this board. Just sayin.....

It would be different because we won. I wouldn't necessarily like it but I wouldn't flip out because we have the Lombardi to show for it.

That said, I know Bronco fans were thrilled when they learned they got to host the game. Well this is one of the things they'll just have to deal with then.

was it denver that had the countdown to ray lewis retirement or was that new england ? if it was denver they something else

It was for the Denver game that Peyton's girlfriend wrote the article about how it was a no win situation for the Ravens.

Calm down, Ravens fans. Just having fun. I didn't stab the real Joe Flacco. This isn't Baltimore.

This CBS anchor from Denver also placed tape over one of Flacco's banners. What if we lost last season and they had Peyton's face around inner harbor? Would we act like these buffoons?

He's a reporter in Denver? Guess they don't hire professional anchors. Those banners are NFL property so he'll probably hear it from the league for damaging their property.

Yep, when they were a no-show against the freaking Steelers, who then went on to win the Super Bowl.

Thanks for nothing, Denver!

Yes 100% right.

The game should have been scheduled to play Wednesday night at M&T. (maybe not Denver but the Ravens should have open at home)

Who cares about Rosh Hashanah! Never heard of it till this year.

The timing could not be any worse for Bronco fans....If the home opener was against Seattle and Russell Wilson was posted everywhere then no big deal.

Millions of Jewish people such as myself care about Rosh Hashanah, as it is one of our high holidays... Personally, I wouldn't mind if the game was played that night, but it is what it is.

The game should not even be played in Denver...From the looks of things the Orioles are fading and that game may not even be a crucial one for them could even be a rain out.

Wrong. This is not a new thing the NFL just did. They have always promoted both teams for the annual kickoff game. When the Giants won the SB the following year they opened against Dallas, a hated divisional rival, and Dallas was promoted along with the Giants. Didn't hear a peep though did you? Because some people understand the NFL promoting a GAME over a
TEAM.

No doubt people would take to the boards and say how they hated seeing Brady/Peyton/Big Ben (choose one) face, but I don't see any of our columnists going out and defacing their posters.

Does that mean, if the opener was here, we'd have to sport some QB like Rogers or Brady??

Whatever. Flacco forever lives in their nightmares, now they can see him during the waking day, too.

That's the thing, though.  We didn't open the season against the Pats at home, even though we beat them in the playoffs.  This wouldn't be so bad for them had they not lost that game.  If we ever open a game at home and have to do this, that either means we won the Superbowl again, in which case hang whatever you want up because we beat everyone, or that we are getting all the perks of having the season opener at our place undeservedly.  Wouldn't the city of Baltimore love to benefit from the fanfare, festivities, spotlight and money of the season opener if the only thing they had to do in return was hang banners of another NFL player (ALONG with one of our own, it isn't like Flacco is up there by himself, Peyton is right there) for a few weeks?  That's all Denver had to do to get these bonuses.  They didn't even have to win a single playoff game to earn such an honor.  Flacco deserves to be part of the season opening festivities more than that entire city and franchise, so they should just deal with it and use it as motivation.

Lmao Denver fans are such whiny word that rhymes with witches.

They should be happy that they're even hosting the game.

I love the Ravens, Orioles, and Caps. But I hate the fans. They will make fun of this and point finger at Denver but if shoe was on other foot most would cry. They are so sensitive and thing everyone is out to get their team. Our fan base is very fair weather. If that was Peyton's mug on MandT bank, fans would be vandalizing it

Yeah, they would. I can't disagree here. Most would be furious if they hung up a picture of Brady at our stadium. It's not meant as disrespect. It's more about promotion. Unfortunately, most fans don't see it that way.

I like the fact that it would not bother you if we played the game that night, but what's the deal with other people being so worried about it being a holiday?? Last I checked, they play games on both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Christmas is a religious holiday celebrated by many, many more people than Rosh Hashanah.

My guess is the NFL fears losing viewers due to the day of the week not generating a ton of viewers and possibly combined with the holiday.

This is true, there are people who go out that night to church. Plus, Wednesday's are just awful... it's like the hardest day to get through, for me anyways. That may result in people not wanting to watch the game. Whereas, on Thursday, the next day is the end of the week for many people. The game would give people something to talk about and get pumped up before the weekend.

Thursday night is the big TV night. That is why the Ravens are opening their season in Denver. It isn't because of the Orioles. It isn't because of Rosh Hashanah. It's because the NFL wanted to make sure that the season opens on that night.

But the shoe wouldn't be on the other foot, that's the point. There'd be a banner of both QBs on M&T and Flacco banners down Pratt. If Denver hates seeing Flacco around then they only have themselves to blame for choking that game away. They should be happy they're even hosting the kickoff game.

And the NFL not moving the game has zero to do with Rosh Hashanah. It's all about Wednesday ratings being lower. The real culprit here is not the NFL but NBC.
