Anyone worried about Kelechi Osemele?

Gino was worse than KO imo. Gino just completely lost his motor after 1st quarter. Then KO had to pick up few of gino's miscues. Both lost it after 2nd half. Its alarming b/c our offense hasnt been on field for that long. Most of the time they went 3&out. Im wondering how Gino can last in NFL. He needs to toughen up and get stronger.

I'm not really as concerned with Gino because that was his first NFL start. KO has been out there and doesn't have the same excuse. They both missed blocks at times. I actually liked what I saw from Gino getting to the 2nd level, but I agree in the 2nd half it was bad for both of them.

I also don't like the ZBS we use in the run game, I don't think we picked up one gain greater than 5 yards and most were for 0 or loss. It just doesnt suit our personnel.

Nope, we should be a power run team. Rice is brutal in the ZBS also, he may make it even worse for the line. Pierce can actually do it and that's why you see him break some runs out of it. Rice is not made to run in that blocking system at all.

That's a cop out, he just needs to up his game.

I don't worry about players after 1 game.  But I'll be keeping an eye on him.

No, it's really not a cop out if it's a legit reason. He's not a good fit for this scheme.

Yeah, he needs to up his game, but the fact is he's probably better suited to a man scheme where he has to do less thinking.

Because he's not picking it up after 5 games at guard?   We just have to bring him along in it.  If the coaches feel that way they can, but he's still very new at guard.

Could this all be a result of Juan Castillo coming on board? I mean the guy is a "run game coordinator". He's in addition to the regular offensive line coach. It could be a case of too many voices during practice and in meetings. It's not just KO. The entire offensive line hasn't looked the same.

KO is looking bad right now. If you watch the interception thrown by Flacco you can see KO just letting one guy go through his gap who forced the ball out of Flaccos hands early. He looks very confused a lot with stunts and blitzes and I think that's mainly because he doesn't have Birk next to him anymore to point these things out maybe or to guide him so to speak and let him know what's coming and what to do. In the run game he struggles as well. He has a powerful punch and he has potential to be very good, but right now he's just struggling bigtime, and it's been like that the entire offseason/preseason and now the 1st game of the regular season as well. He needs to step up quick.

^ I agree, so far we're feeling the loss of Birk up front.

In recent years we've seen defensive coordinators bringing pressure from everywhere not just the edge, and Centre has arguably become the most important position on the line.
