What Ever Happened To This Ravens Logo?

Honestly, I think our current logo and unis are pretty close to perfect. I don't think I'd change a thing. I'm not from MD, I've never even been there, but I think the shield looks really cool and I know Baltimorians (?) are really proud of their team.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love the shield, especially after all that Baltimore went through regarding getting a franchise to play there. But putting the shield on the helmet? Nah.

It's a big change if we ever make it happened.  It's not like it's a cool logo out there, but I think it's unique and representing well where Ravens come from regardless of fans in nationwide.

Won 2 Championships with the Big Purple Bird. Think we'll keep him. Unless he's related to Anquan Boldin or Bernard Pollard. In that case he's got to go. To hell with tradition.

To me i like every logo we have had really, our alternative ones aswell, as long as is black, purple, and gold  works for me.  Never mind logo how about some new helment and jersey colors combinations, think some gold would look nice

Well said. The present logo is the one that saw us through two super bowl wins. I think it is good enough as is.

That old logo is so heavy metal, lol. The bird has a mullet! I'll keep it just like it is. Two Super Bowls with it. Don't rock the boat. The flag patches are awesome but should stay on the sleeves. IMO.

Yeah, the ginormous shield on the helmet isn't exactly sleek and subtle. Love our unis the way they are, wouldnt change a thing. Except maybe make black our new home uni

I stay way clear of uniform discussions but I will say a matte black helmet would be deadly.

The "B" on the uni's has a lot to do with the fact that a former Baltimore team slipped out in the middle of the night, it is a way of saying the Ravens belong to Baltimore.

Instead of the B&R, the Raven as used in heraldry(shown in the post above) would be more appropriate in a coat of arms.   By every definition the flag of Baltimore and of Maryland are coats of arms, and hold to a standard based on hundreds and hundreds of years of heraldic tradition.

I think I was thinking of the Vikings with the matte finish. Purple obviously. Looks so much better than the gloss.

The shield seems so cool to me. I'm a hardcore fan of anything Baltimore, I'll even watch the blast, but to those of you who don't live in Maryland,isn't the shield cool looking? Makes us a bit different and I really like that as well, but the shield and flag is just so cool anyway. I think we should put it on the front and back(really big!!!) of the jerseys as well as the helmet. maybe even get some shoes showing it off as well. But in all seriousness I like our Uniforms just the way they are now.

I'm not a huge fan of the present helmet logo. Always seemed to cartoonish for my taste. It is what it is so I'll support it. I really like the full face logo the team also has and am considering having it inked on.

Just curious, what does the shield have to do with Ravens, and why the fascination with it? I personally think the B should come off of the helmet and just leave the bird, and the shield on the sleeve should be replaced with the logo of a Raven swooping with its talons open... I do like the logo of the Raven the OP is talking about allot better than the one we currently use, and wish we had fought harder to keep it.

it represents our state with the maryland flag in it(im a big fan of our flag, i even have a huge tattoo across my chest of it), represents our city because of the B(obviously lol) and the shield represents the defense that our greatness was originated from, also represents our resilience that our entire organization seems to have.

and to say "were the ravens, not the baltimorians" well the jets logo is a green football, the giants logo is NY, the niners logo is a SF, the chiefs logo is a KC(although the arrowhead represents chiefs) the bears logo is a C, the titans logo is a meteor with a T in it, the packers have a G, and almost every baseball team has a logo that is just the first letter or an acronym for their city. so what would be the problem with us doing it?

The only thing I don't like about our current logo is that the people making the Super Bowl rings don't get the eye right.

 

Like, not even close to right. They make a mess of it every time. Normally I don't have a problem with small things like that, but that Super Bowl hardware should be perfect, not just pretty close.

I always had an idea of Ray Lewis being outfitted in a sword and a Ravens shield and having a gladiator type battle with James Harrison outfitted with a sword and the Steelers circular shield type thing...Ed Reed and Troy. 

 

I love the shields being on our shoulders. I think it's great. It wouldn't look right on the helmets though, and too Pittsburgh for me.

I see. I'm a native of Baltimore City, actually grew up in the city both east, and west side and even though I've been living in Miami for a couple years I represent like there is no tomorrow so I definitely have zero issue with the uniform representing the city and state...

 

I guess I'm thinking more about how it actually looks, and to me I'd prefer a more intimidating, rough and rugged look with a little less fancy decal's etc... sometimes less is more.

yea i understand fully but i like the classy look of the shield and everything it represents much more than our played out logo that looks about as outdated as the bills old logo

Another thing I'll say here about the state/city flag... what other team in the NFL has their state flag on their unis at all, let alone on their helmets?

 nothing wrong with being different.
