What Ever Happened To This Ravens Logo?

Does nobody else think this logo is awesome? Why did we stop using it?

This was removed as a primary because the Eagles felt it looked to similar to their primary. The Eagles issued a C&D to the Ravens. Art Modell didn't argue with it because he felt the logo didn't represent Baltimore.

id like to see the shield on the side of the helmet honestly, and take the shield off the shoulders and replace it with just a B or something. for the past few years ive been liking our logo less and less. its too small, the backwards B on one side looks awful, it looks like the bird has white whiskers, and it just doesnt look very good on the side of our helmets. while i think the shield would look very classy and alot more organized and pull the uni together better than the bird face

One of the Ravens logos, our first one ever, was almost put into a lawsuit, if I remember correctly. Someone claimed that they stole their artwork or something like that. I don't know if that is the shield logo that everyone is referring to, but I liked the one I am talking about.

I personally think the B should come off of the helmet and just leave the bird, and the shield on the sleeve should be replaced with the logo of a Raven swooping with its talons open... I do like the logo of the Raven the OP is talking about allot better than the one we currently use, and wish we had fought harder to keep it.

Yeah. From what I heard, a security guard drew it and someone from the Ravens org saw it and liked it enough to use. But they didn't tell the guard, and they turned him down when he said they could have it in exchange for season tickets, so he sued. He got some absurdly small amount of money, though.

Oh, I get it... Looks too law enforcement-ish for me, I prefer to stick to the actual logo of a Raven. Do other teams have their state flag on their NFL logo's?

No idea. It was under the Modell administration, so it's unlikely anyone currently with the team remembers the justification.

I really like our logo now and I think it looks slick on the side of the helmet. The old "B" shield logo seemed kinda cheesy to me, but I like the flag should on the shoulders we have now.

It would be like the Seahawks ala your user name taking the stylized Hawk off of their helmets for a Washington state related logo.

Thanks for the backup man. I mean, whether Marylanders believe it or not, there are diehard fans outside of Maryland. I actually live in Tn, and am fans of both the Ravens and Seahawks. Granted, I was born in Maryland and am about to move back, but I currently live outside of Maryland.

Honestly, I think our current logo and unis are pretty close to perfect. I don't think I'd change a thing. I'm not from MD, I've never even been there, but I think the shield looks really cool and I know Baltimorians (?) are really proud of their team.
