History In The Making?

Originally posted on December 6th - refreshing it in light of recent events:

I'm not going to make any bombastic proclamations about this Ravens team. It's not my style and it wouldn't suit them. What I will say is this: This team has made me root for football like I haven't in years - not because of the wins, but because of the way they approach the game and play. This team's attitude, camaraderie, work ethic and belief in the game above the individualistic crap... It's outstanding.

As I've stated before and will again, I'm not worried about the record. I believe in this team no matter what and I think this season is historic from the standpoint that it soldifies the good things about this team and builds on them with entirely new "awesomesauce". I'm happy with the current blend of new and old. It makes me glad I'm a Ravens fan.

From the O-line to the defensive secondary... from the legendary veterans to the young bucks... These guys are playing real football as a team. It's refreshing in a league often know as the "National Felons League" that this kind of organization - from offices, to trainers, to field crews to coaches and players - can play the game as it was intended to be played.

So, is it history? Well, some people define history by counting Super Bowl rings or measure it via bragging rights. I see a change in this organization's direction that might just be an example for much of the rest of the league to follow. We'll see if it produces rings, but rings or not, I'll happily commit my fanaticism to this team if for no other reason than they live the game the way it is supposed to be lived. It kinda' makes me feel like a kid again and that's pretty darn cool.

;)
Very well stated. I agree it is history in the making. We may not get a SB ring this year, but it's still been a great year to watch this team come together. I haven;t been this excited since 2000. GO RAVENS

Great post..I can say I feel the say way. I keep thinking back to what Harbaugh said about this team becoming the next dynasty and winning multiple rings before that Monday Night game against the Steelers. If they contiue to direct this team in the way they have this season I don't see why his statment won't come true, and I am a believer not because of homerism but because the Ravens have finally shown their full capability even with the third most injuries in the NFL this year. Cheers to the Ravens and all it's fans..now go beat the Skins' tonight!

I thought this thread could use a refresher considering recent events - particularly the way Mason and the rest of the team played this last game. The character on this team, considering the rest of the league, is amazing. no matter what the end of the season brings, the Ravens 2008 edition has been outstanding. Bravo.

It'll be even funnier when they try to hire a relative unknown and try to strike gold like Bisciotti did with Harbaugh.

I agree, but Stevie B wasn't the first to do it. Heck, look at Tomlin he is doing an excellent job.
